For a Ukrainian in Russian captivity, every additional minute is not just lost time – it is another risk to suffer from violence. According to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, over 96% of released prisoners of war report torture or inhumane treatment – a systematic, deliberate policy of Russia.

Speed of decisions matters: every delay is measured in human pain. We must work together to push for an immediate "all-for-all" prisoner exchange, expand and strictly enforce sanctions on Russia, and increase diplomatic pressure – because the longer this takes, the higher the human cost.

Russia launched another massive attack on Ukraine with ballistic missiles, other missiles and drones – on the same night that the US House passed the Lindsey Graham sanctions bill.

Civilian infrastructure was hit across eight regions. Energy infrastructure was targeted in Sumy and Odesa regions, while residential buildings were struck in Kyiv and Odesa. More than 10 people, including children, were injured and some hospitalised.

This is why strong sanctions against Russia matter. They can increase the pressure needed to stop the war and make diplomatic efforts for peace work. Russia must end its aggression.

How can human rights be defended in times of war - and how can international crimes be documented to support accountability?
On September 18, Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics together with the Embassy of Ukraine in Sweden welcomes Oleksandra Matviichuk, prominent Ukrainian human rights lawyer and Head of the Center for Civil Liberties, the Ukrainian human rights organisation awarded the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize.

During this special lecture at the Stockholm School of Economics, Matviichuk will discuss her work defending human rights, documenting international crimes, and advocating for accountability in Ukraine and across the wider OSCE region.

The event will be chaired and moderated by Jesper Roine, Deputy Director of SITE and Adjunct Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Посол України у Швеції Світлана Заліщук провела зустріч із українськими поліцейськими-кінологами, які пройшли навчання в Швеції.

Під час візиту до Швеції, українські поліцейські вивчали досвід шведських колег з розшуку людей в умовах міста та лісі, тактичної медицини та надання невідкладної допомоги людям і собакам.
Отримані теоретичні знання та навички відпрацьовували на практиці, в умовах, наближених до реальних.

До уваги громадян, які планують виїзд з України або в’їзд в
Україну з домашніми тваринами.

З метою забезпечення доступу громадян до актуальної інформації на офіційному веб-порталі Держпродспоживслужби створено тематичний розділ «Вимоги до некомерційного переміщення тварин».

У зазначеному розділі розміщено інформацію за такими напрямами: виїзд з домашньою твариною за кордон та ввезення домашніх тварин в Україну.

Матеріали містять відомості щодо основних вимог до ідентифікації та вакцинації тварин, проведення необхідних лабораторних досліджень, оформлення ветеринарних документів, а також порядку переміщення домашніх тварин через державний кордон.

Також на офіційному веб-порталі Держпродспоживслужби створено розділ «Ветеринарний паспорт тварини», у якому розміщено інформацію про порядок отримання ветеринарного паспорта встановленого державного зразка, вимоги до його оформлення, а також зразки офіційних ветеринарних паспортів тварин.

They were afraid of democracy bordering with Russia. They were afraid of freedom of speech spilling out into Russian territory.
They were afraid of the truth, because as soon as the truth penetrates the Kremlin’s walls, that’s the end of the Russian Empire. That’s the end of the Putin’s regime.

Just hours after the US President’s peace envoys left Kyiv, Russia launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine's capital and several other regions of Ukraine.

The strikes on Kyiv killed at least two people and injured at least ten others. The capital suffered significant damage to residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

Critical infrastructure was hit in Kyiv region, while in Odesa region, Russia struck an ordinary market. Two people were injured in Kharkiv, where an apartment building was damaged. In Sumy region, a railway locomotive was attacked at a station this morning. Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions also came under attack.

Ukrainian defenders destroyed 175 aerial targets overnight, but not all threats could be stopped. Ballistic missiles remain particularly difficult to intercept. Ukraine continues to raise the urgent need for more interceptors with our American and European partners.
Further meetings are taking place today with countries and companies that can help strengthen Ukraine’s air defence and support our FREYJA anti-ballistic system.
