The students of Silid Aralan sa Embahada Termino IV celebrated Philippine Heritage Month on Saturday, 09 May 2026, at the Embassy of the Philippines in Stockholm through educational and cultural activities highlighting the Filipino language and storytelling.

Celebrated annually in the month of May, the 2026 National Heritage Month carries the theme “Roots and Horizons: Our Shared Heritage, Our Collective Future.” For the Embassy, the aim is to strengthen the students’ appreciation of Filipino culture, language, and heritage while promoting cultural pride among young Filipinos in Sweden

In line with the theme, teachers Ms. Rofilleta Refuerzo-Larsson and Ms. Jella Galabo divided the students into two groups for age-appropriate activities.

The group of younger students participated in a storytelling session featuring “Ang Sapatos ni Ben,” a humorous story about a boy searching for his missing shoe, only to realize he had been wearing it all along. The activity entertained the students while teaching attentiveness and presence of mind.

Meanwhile the group of older students learned about the history and development of the Filipino language, from Tagalog to Filipino as the country’s national language. They were also excited to learn about the ancient Baybayin script and enjoyed learning how to write their names using the ancient script. END

[LOOK] SILID ARALAN SA EMBAHADA STUDENTS MARK BUWAN NG PANITIKANG PILIPINO

The students of Silid Aralan sa Embahada Termino IV commemorated Buwan ng Panitikang Pilipino on Saturday, 25 April 2026, at the Embassy of the Philippines in Stockholm, Sweden.

As part of the celebration, teachers Ms. Rofilleta Refuerzo-Larsson and Ms. Jella Galabo facilitated an engaging storytelling session featuring the book “Ang Paaralan ni Fuwan”, which centers around Fuwan, a girl who enjoys attending classes but was one day asked by her father to help in the farm rather than go to school. When Fuwan missed her classes, her teacher and classmates visited her and offered to help in the farm as a form of “ugfu” or “bayanihan”. The children enjoyed helping out on the farm and Fuwan was able to return to class the following day.

The story underscored to the Silid Aralan students that while education is important, there are also other lessons that matter - “ugfu” or cooperation, kindness, and respect. It also emphasized that learning can be fun and can come in different forms.

To continue the celebration of the Buwan ng Panitikang Pilipino, the Silid Aralan students played an interactive game on teamwork and “ugfu.” END.
