Sweden is in talks with the Russian Direct Investment Fund over the possibility of launching the production of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V. The government’s coordinator for vaccination-related issues Richard Bergstrom said that Sweden would be able to purchase Sputnik V only after the vaccine was approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). If Sputnik V is approved in May, the first consignment of 200 000 doses of the Russian vaccine will be delivered to Sweden in June.
On March 4 the EMA said a procedure of step-by-step examination of Sputnik V had begun. Specialists would look into the vaccine’s compliance with the European Union’s standards in the field of security, effectiveness and quality.

Nordregio organised an event to build Nordic-Russian partnerships for wood in construction on March, 2. Nordregio is an international research centre on regional development and planning established by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Russian trade representation in Sweden took part in this event. The online event linked companies from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark and companies from Russia in the wood construction to form new relationships, for trade, knowledge and technology exchange, and the expansion and connection of the wood in the construction community.
The event revealed relevant challenges and opportunities.
Russian trade representation in Sweden regularly supports Russian companies that are interested in building partnerships with Swedish companies and Swedish technologies.

Further cooperation between Sweden and Russia has been developed in the field of alternative energy.
At the beginning of February the first solar cell production line was sold to the Russian market by a Swedish company Midsummer AB. The production line will be installed in Solartek factory in Saransk.
Midsummer AB is considered to be a leading developer and supplier of advanced solar energy technology solutions for the production and installation of thin film solar panels. The agreement between the solar energy technology leader and the Russian government-owned technology giant Rusnano Group is aimed to develop the non-silicon flexible photovoltaics market in Russia and the Eurasian Union. Rusnano Group will use the unique technology of building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solutions for the production and development of flexible thin film solar cells in Russia and the Eurasian Union. Meanwhile, Midsummer AB will become a distributor of finished goods on the EU market where the demand is higher than the current production capacity of Midsummer AB.

JSC “Russian Mechanics” is expanding its model range of snowmobiles that are already presented on the Swedish market. Last year the company started to release a new tourist model Frontier 1000. All models received certificates of conformity and have proved to be simple and reliable. In Russia the snowmobiles are well known for their durability. The snowmobiles released 40 years ago still operate.

Russian trade representative Aleksander Abramov and William Eriksson, co - owner of Tayga Sweden AB met on December, 17 in Örnsköldsvik. Tayga Sweden is an exclusive dealer of “Tayga” snowmobiles in Sweden which are produced by the biggest Russian company of snowmobiles and ATVs JSC “Russian Mechanics”. The snowmobiles based on the model “Tayga Patrul 551 SWT” are used by the Russian army in the Arctic. These machines are of good quality sold at an affordable price. Nowadays new models a snowmobile “Frontier” and an ATV “PM 800” are to be EU certified. Construction of a dealership in Örnsköldsvik is in the near future, where apart from new models of machines a spare parts warehouse, as well as a servicing workshop, will be located.
