A great sneak peak!

Fewer than 3,000 people live in Jokkmokk, north of the Arctic Circle. But in just a fortnight, more than 40,000 visitors are expected to descend on the town for the annual winter market. The Local spoke to Birgitta Nilsson, who leads the team organizing the four-century-old event.

New York Times: "This is the Jokkmokk Winter Market, a three-day festival that has taken place each February since the 1600s. Over the course of one long weekend, thousands of people visit."

Once a year, the people of Jokkmokk, Sweden, gather to celebrate their heritage. Reindeer beware.
