A few impressions from our traditional Swiss Day celebration, bringing together our valued partners. We are grateful to the many Swedish and international guests who joined us for this special occasion, who made this event truly memorable. Together, we continue to strengthen and deepen the bilateral relations between Sweden and Switzerland across foreign policy, trade, science and innovation, culture, defense and tourism—making our partnership both strong and fruitful. What kept recurring in the discussions throughout the evening was the importance of global cooperation to strengthen the rules-based international order.

What a performance from Switzerland’s Audrey Werro! At yesterday’s Wanda Diamond League meeting in Stockholm, she won the women’s 800m in a stunning 1:53.98, the third-fastest time ever recorded. Congratulations on an extraordinary and historic achievement!

Bilateral relations and domestic politics were at the heart of the informal dinner hosted by Martin Brozek with Members of the Riksdag’s friendship group with Switzerland. Thank you Hanna Gunnarsson, Martin Westmont, Susanne Nordström, Jan Ericson for substantial and yet relaxed discussions with Deputy Head of Mission Vincent Juillerat. Looking forward to continuing the cooperation after summer recess! 🇸🇪🤝🇨🇭

Switzerland has one of Europe’s lowest youth unemployment rates. Here’s why:
🇨🇭In Switzerland, around two-thirds of young people choose vocational education after compulsory school. Most follow the dual education system, spending part of the week in a company and the rest in vocational school.
🇨🇭From IT and healthcare to watchmaking or retail, apprentices gain practical experience directly in the workplace while earning a salary. Because these programmes are closely linked to labour market needs, the transition into employment is often smoother than in more purely academic systems.
🇨🇭This strong connection between education and employers contributes to one of the lowest youth unemployment rates in Europe. The system also remains highly flexible, allowing students to continue into higher education or change careers later on.
Even Switzerland’s current president, Guy Parmelin, began his professional path through vocational training.

Yesterday, the Swiss Embassy in Stockholm swapped into crisis mode and trained for emergency situations. Stress levels? Tested. Adrenaline? Definitely present. Calmness under pressure? More or less intact.
A valuable and eye-opening training and luckily only an exercise. A big thank you to our Crisis Management Centre in Bern for the collaboration, the support and for keeping us on our toes!
