🇸🇬🇦🇪 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲–𝗨𝗔𝗘 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀!

Ambassador S Premjith was pleased to receive Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Mr Matar Salem Ali Marran Al Dhaheri at the Singapore Residence on 12 May 2026. The Singapore and Emirati Embassies are also neighbours within the Diplomatic Quarter.

Ambassador Matar has had a distinguished career in public service, serving most recently as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence from 2016 to 2025, prior to his current assignment in Riyadh.

During the meeting, the Ambassadors exchanged views on regional developments,
and efforts by various countries to resolve the crisis in the Straits of Hormuz.

🇸🇬🇦🇪 تعزيز العلاقات بين سنغافورة ودولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة!

استقبل السفير إس بريمجيت سفير دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة لدى المملكة العربية السعودية، سعادة السيد مطر سالم علي مران الظاهري، في مقر إقامته بتاريخ 12 مايو 2026. كما تقع سفارتا سنغافورة ودولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة جنباً إلى جنب في الحي الدبلوماسي بالرياض.

يتمتع السفير مطر بمسيرة متميزة في مجال الخدمة العامة، حيث شغل منصب وكيل وزارة الدفاع خلال الفترة من 2016 إلى 2025، قبل تعيينه في منصبه الحالي في الرياض.

تبادل السفيران خلال اللقاء وجهات النظر حول التطورات الإقليمية، والجهود التي تبذلها مختلف الدول لإيجاد حلول دبلوماسية للأزمة في مضيق هرمز.

⚽🇸🇬 Alongside other Ambassadors in Riyadh, Ambassador Premjith witnessed the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 draw ceremony last night.

Singapore is in Group D, alongside Australia 🇦🇺, Iraq 🇮🇶, and Tajikistan 🇹🇯.

The draw sets up an exciting series of matches as Singapore takes on some of the continent’s best teams at Asia’s premier football tournament.

We look forward to welcoming the Lions and our Singapore fans to Saudi Arabia for the tournament. This will be the first time Saudi Arabia is hosting the AFC Asian Cup.

The Embassy wishes the Lions every success on the road ahead 🦁

وأُوقعت سنغافورة في المجموعة الرابعة

ونتطلع إلى الترحيب بمنتخب “الأسود” والجماهير السنغافورية في المملكة العربية السعودية خلال البطولة

وستكون هذه المرة الأولى التي تستضيف فيها المملكة العربية السعودية بطولة كأس آسيا AFC

Jeddah’s Al-Ahli Saudi FC successfully defended the AFC Champions League Elite crown after winning the finals against Japan’s FC Machida Zelvia at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah last Saturday.

تمكن نادي الأهلي السعودي لكرة القدم، نادي من جدة، من الحفاظ على لقب دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة بعد فوزه في المبارة النهائية ضد نادي ماتشيدا زيلفيا الياباني على ملعب مدينة الملك عبد الله الرياضية في جدة يوم السبت الماضي.

𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 – 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗱𝗵!

Ambassador S Premjith was pleased to receive Dr Muktar Kedir Abdu, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, for an introductory call at the Singapore Residence on 27 April 2026.

Dr Muktar has had a distinguished career in the public service, having served as Deputy Prime Minister (concurrently Minister for the Civil Service) from 2012 to 2014, President of the Oromia Regional State from 2014 to 2016, and as Ambassador to Australia, and South Africa before his current assignment in Riyadh.

The Ambassadors reaffirmed the warm and growing ties between Singapore and Ethiopia, including the establishment of a Singapore Embassy in Addis Ababa in 2027. They also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and the Horn of Africa.

We look forward to working with Ambassador Muktar to strengthen relations between our two countries.

تعزيز العلاقات بين سنغافورة وإثيوبيا في الرياض!

سُرّ السفير اس بريمجيت باستقبال الدكتور مختار خضر عبده، سفير جمهورية إثيوبيا الفيدرالية الديمقراطية، في زيارة تعارف بمقر إقامته بتاريخ 27 أبريل 2026.

ويتمتع الدكتور مختار بمسيرة متميزة في الخدمة العامة، حيث شغل منصب نائب رئيس الوزراء (بالتزامن مع وزير الخدمة المدنية) خلال الفترة من 2012 إلى 2014، كما تولى رئاسة إقليم أوروميا من 2014 إلى 2016، وعمل سفيراً لبلاده لدى أستراليا وجنوب أفريقيا قبل تعيينه الحالي في الرياض.

وأكد السفيران على العلاقات الدافئة والمتنامية بين سنغافورة وإثيوبيا، بما في ذلك إنشاء سفارة لسنغافورة في أديس أبابا في عام 2027. كما تبادلا وجهات النظر حول التطورات في الشرق الأوسط والقرن الأفريقي.

ونتطلع إلى العمل مع السفير مختار لتعزيز العلاقات بين بلدينا.

In the spirit of close India-Singapore bilateral ties, both Ambassadors exchanged views on regional geopolitical developments.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐡

Ambassador Premjith called on HRH Prince Rakan bin Salman Al Saud, Governor of Diriyah, on 15 April. He congratulated His Royal Highness on his recent appointment as Governor, and they had a fruitful discussion on ways to enhance cooperation. Ambassador Premjith was also briefed on the latest developments in Diriyah.

قام السفير بريمجيت بزيارة صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير راكان بن سلمان آل سعود، محافظ الدرعية، بتاريخ 15 أبريل، حيث قدّم لسموه التهنئة بمناسبة تعيينه مؤخراً محافظاً. وجرى خلال اللقاء تبادل مثمر لوجهات النظر حول سبل تعزيز التعاون، كما اطّلع السفير على أبرز المستجدات والتطورات في الدرعية.

𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬

Over the last week, the Singapore Embassy in Riyadh facilitated the overland transfer of Singaporeans from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia to Riyadh. This was part of our efforts to bring Singaporeans home due to conflict in the Middle East. We conducted our operations over the span of four days, and facilitated the transportation by bus from the various borders to Riyadh.

From Riyadh, we worked with our colleagues in Singapore and the RSAF to send 218 Singaporeans and their dependents home aboard a A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport aircraft.

There are so many partners to thank for their strong support. In particular, we express our sincere appreciation to the authorities in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait for facilitating our efforts.

We are heartened to see our fellow Singaporeans safe and we thank them for the kind words of encouragement.

We would like to encourage Singaporeans still in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to register your presence with the Embassy. Singaporeans are also encouraged to update your E-Registration status at https://eregister.mfa.gov.sg.
