They don’t see glass. They see the sky, trees, and a safe path ahead.
Reflective buildings may look modern and beautiful to us, but to birds, they can become invisible traps. The glass mirrors nearby trees and open sky, confusing birds into flying straight toward a solid wall.
While people continue working comfortably inside, a silent wildlife tragedy may be unfolding just outside the window.
This is not simply a bird’s mistake. It is a design problem—and it has solutions: bird-safe glass, visible window patterns, external screens, reduced reflections, and responsible nighttime lighting.
A building cannot be called truly “green” if its reflection of nature is killing the real thing.
Birds don’t understand glass. But we understand the danger. The responsibility is ours.
