🎨✨ There is something special about watching a child turn a blank page into a masterpiece.

At Shelter Them, we are continually inspired by the drawing talents of our children and youth. Through every sketch and artwork, they express their creativity, imagination, and unique perspectives of the world around them.

These talents are more than just artistic skills, they are gifts that build confidence, nurture self-expression, and open doors to future opportunities.

To our young artists, thank you for filling our community with creativity and beauty. We are proud of the talent you are developing and excited to see where your gifts will take you.

Keep drawing. Keep creating. Keep believing in your potential. Your talent matters, and your future is bright. ❤️🎨

Happy International Day for Biological Diversity 🌍

As the world celebrates biodiversity today, we at Shelter Them are reminded of the importance of protecting and preserving the environment we all depend on.

At Shelter Them, our children are practically taught from an early age the value of sustaining the environment and the role they each have to play in caring for it. Through hands-on learning and daily practices, they grow up understanding that protecting nature means protecting their future.

Together, we are raising a generation that respects, values, and actively contributes to a healthier and more sustainable world. 🌱

This morning, Jocelyne and Josephine had the privilege of speaking with 50 amazing women and one men from the Berwa Basket Weaving Co-op.

They wished them an early Happy Mother’s Day and had such a meaningful conversation.

We’re excited to share that this will now be a monthly connection, creating space for support, growth, and community.

To all these incredible mothers, we see you, we celebrate you, and we’ll be walking together on this journey!

Where a home was lost to the storm, a new one now stands. 🏡

Today, Shelter Them alongside the Nyarugenge Sector, proudly handed over a new home to Innocent Izabayo’s family after the mid-March storm that affected Gateko and neighboring communities.

Built with the generous support of during their mission trip to Rwanda, this home is more than walls and a roof, it’s safety, stability, and a new beginning.

For Answer, it means returning from school to a place of comfort and continuing his journey at our ECDC with hope.

Beyond this home, 100 roofing sheets were also provided to families affected by the storm.

We stand with our community restoring, rebuilding, and reaching out where it matters most.

20 years ago… we started with one simple decision:
We couldn’t look away.
Since 2005, every gala, every ticket, every donation…
has helped build something far beyond an event.
Because of you, we didn’t just raise funds—
we built futures.
Children went to school.
Families found stability.
Communities began to stand on their own.
If you’ve ever attended a Shelter Them gala…
you are part of this story.
(pause line)
And now, 20 years later… we’re inviting you back.
📍 Sunday, June 7th
