🧩 The Puzzle of Unity series continues with another story from Ukraine’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Today, we share more about Kosiv painted ceramics.
Kosiv ceramics represent Ukrainian folk art from the Carpathians, with a tradition dating back at least to the 18th century. Scenes of everyday life – work, celebrations, and leisure – are hand-engraved with a metal stylus on raw clay and then painted with enamels and glaze.
In 2019, Kosiv painted ceramics were inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, affirming their status as one of the most vivid symbols of Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
Short fact: Only three traditional colours dominate Kosiv jugs, plates, and stove tiles: yellow, green, and brown, inspired by the Carpathian nature.

Ukraine's long-range capabilities have reached a new milestone. Ukraine's Defence Forces have struck another facility in Russia’s oil refining industry, this time in Tobolsk, Siberia, over 2,500 kilometres away.

For the first time in its history, Russia no longer has a secure strategic rear. Ukraine's growing long-range capabilities are bringing more of the aggressor state's war-supporting infrastructure within reach.

There will be more Ukrainian deep strikes. Their purpose is clear: to make Russia understand that continuing its war comes at a growing cost – and that peace is the only option.

🧩 The series is back with more stories about cultural and historical symbols of Ukraine. Today, we share more about Hryhorii Skovoroda – a philosopher, a poet, and a prominent representative of the Ukrainian Baroque.

In the 1740s, Skovoroda travelled across Europe, visiting Budapest, Vienna, Pressburg (Bratislava), and other cities, engaging with science and culture – experiences that shaped his worldview. The philosopher taught that happiness comes from finding work and a way of life that brings inner fulfilment rather than material wealth.

Hryhorii Skovoroda spent the last year of his life in the village that was later renamed Skovorodynivka, in the Kharkiv region. A museum dedicated to his life and work welcomed visitors there – until 2022, when Russian forces struck the museum, deliberately causing significant damage to Ukraine’s cultural heritage.

Short fact: Before his death, Skovoroda asked that the words "The world tried to catch me, but did not succeed" be written on his grave. They became one of his most famous quotes.

Уряд змінив порядок перевірки військово-облікових документів у консульствах та посольствах України за кордоном

Головний принцип
Законом України «Про правовий режим воєнного стану» визначено, що для отримання консульських послуг за кордоном чоловіки віком 18–60 років зобов’язані пред’явити консулу для перевірки дійсний військово-облікових документ.
Військово-обліковий документ в електронній формі (е-ВОД) формується засобами мобільного застосунку Резерв+

Що змінилося?
Раніше для можливості вчинення будь-якої консульської дії чоловіки віком 18-60 років мали пред'явити е-ВОД, сформований не раніше ніж за 72 години до візиту до консульства чи посольства.
Відтепер достатньо надати консулу для перевірки е-ВОД, дійсний на момент візиту до дипломатичної установи.

Коли у вчиненні консульської дії відмовлять
Відмова буде, якщо:
• перевірка засвідчила, що е-ВОД недійсний або дані потребують оновлення;
• заявник не пред'явив дійсний е-ВОД;
• у пред'явленому е-ВОД відсутнє підтвердження актуальності персональних даних.

Винятки (у яких випадках е-ВОД не потрібен):
• оформлення посвідчення особи на повернення в Україну;
• вчинення консульських дій щодо дітей громадян України, другий з батьків яких є іноземцем або особою без громадянства;
• вчинення дій за заявами громадян України, які перебувають під арештом, затримані чи позбавлені волі за кордоном.

Що робити, якщо е-ВОД немає або немає можливості оновити дані через Резерв+
Ближчим часом з’явиться можливість оновити свої дані через консульства та посольства для тих громадян України, які не мають змоги авторизуватися в Резерв+.
До кінця цього року МЗС спільно з Міноборони запровадять можливість оновлення даних через консульський облік. Для цього чоловікам необхідно буде
• стати на консульський облік (якщо особа не перебуває на консульському обліку), або
• актуалізувати свої дані в дипломатичній установі (якщо особа вже перебуває на консульському обліку).

Ті громадяни, які не можуть оновити самостійно свої дані через Резерв+ через відсутність податкового номера, можуть особисто звернутися до найближчого посольства чи консульства України за кордоном для його оформлення через систему «е-Консул». ❗️ Ukraine’s Acting Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha: "It is deeply deplorable that UNICEF missed the essential point in its 4 August statement: all these children’s deaths are a direct result of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. By presenting these casualties without this essential context, UNICEF creates a false equivalence between the aggressor and the victim.
Moreover, UNICEF’s statement lacks basic fact-checking. It failed to mention that the casualties in Russia’s Krasnodar were caused by a drone reportedly intercepted by Russian air defence. It also failed to verify the information on casualties in Ukraine: seven, not three, children from one family were killed in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
And yesterday, Russia killed another innocent Ukrainian child – a 3-year-old boy in the Kyiv region.
These are Russia’s war crimes. We call on UNICEF to condemn these heinous crimes and urge Russia to stop killing innocent Ukrainian children.”

All three indigenous peoples of Ukraine – Crimean Tatars, Karaites, and Krymchaks – continue to suffer from Russia’s aggression and face systematic persecution in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, temporarily occupied by Russia.
Russia has violated at least 18 articles of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples through forced assimilation, displacement, and destruction of cultural heritage, media censorship, and obstruction of representative institutions.
At least 169 victims of politically motivated persecution in Crimea belong to indigenous peoples. They face systematic repression, including arrests, torture, restrictions on the use of their native languages, and searches of schools, mosques, and homes.
Ukraine calls on the international community to act decisively to protect the cultural heritage and rights of Crimea’s indigenous peoples, condemn Russia’s discriminatory policies, and hold Russia accountable for its crimes. Russia’s occupation must not be allowed to erase the identities, history, and presence of Crimea’s indigenous peoples from their homeland.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has joined a UNITED24 fundraising campaign launched with former astronaut, EMT and UNITED24 ambassador, Scott Kelly, to purchase 10 Type-C ambulances. Ukrainian embassies and consulates around the world, together with local Ukrainian communities, are organizing charitable initiatives to help raise $1,200,000 for the procurement of 10 state-of-the-art ambulances.
These are true mobile intensive care units equipped with artificial lung ventilation devices, defibrillator monitors, electrocardiographs with remote ECG transmission capabilities, and other lifesaving medical equipment.
In 2025, Ukrainian emergency medical teams responded to more than 4.5 million calls. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, 495 ambulances have been destroyed or damaged.
In the aftermath of a Russian strike, every second counts.
Modern ambulances are more than just a means of transportation—they serve as mobile emergency rooms, enabling medics to provide lifesaving care long before patients reach a hospital.

🧩 With the Puzzle of Unity series, we continue exploring different parts of Ukraine through their cultural and historical symbols. Today's story is about one of Europe’s oldest enterprises – the Drohobych Saltworks.

Salt was once incredibly valuable. At times, it even served as a form of currency and was essential for both trade and preserving foods such as salo (pork fat), mushrooms, and vegetables.

For more than 600 years, "white gold" has been produced in the city of Drohobych. The Drohobych Saltworks supplied salt not only to the historic region of Halychyna but also to much of present-day Ukraine.

It continues to do so today. Since Russia's full-scale invasion forced Ukraine's largest salt producer in Soledar to cease operations, the Drohobych Saltworks has become one of the country's few remaining salt producers, preserving a centuries-old craft while helping meet the demand.

Short fact: The traditional method of extracting and boiling salt at the Drohobych Saltworks has remained virtually unchanged for centuries. The salt is produced by boiling down natural brine extracted from a 50-metre-deep well.
