Twitezimbere Rubyiruko Busasamana: Youth Driving Agricultural Change in Kayonza
Based in Rwinkwavu Sector, Kayonza District, the Twitezimbere Rubyiruko Busasamana Youth Group is transforming lives through vegetable and fruit farming. Founded on January 12, 2022, the group has 20 members (13 women, 7 men) committed to creating jobs, supporting at-risk young mothers, and combating malnutrition.
In just three years, the group has expanded agricultural production, assisted young mothers, promoted nutrition, and increased youth employment. Members have innovatively invested in income-generating projects women bought sewing machines while men acquired land to build affordable rural housing.
Challenges remain, including limited market access, equipment, irrigation, and training, but the group is overcoming them through collaboration, careful planning, and partnership with investors and other organizations.
As they look to the future, members aim to develop skills through training, participate in agricultural expos, improve market linkages, and access better tools, demonstrating how youth-led initiatives can positively impact agriculture and community development.

I started my farming activities with 10 workers, and as the business has grown, I now employ 50.”
