The Russian Cup in remote-controlled underwater vehicles and unmanned boats started today in Astrakhan on the basis of the Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft Corporate Training Center.
The competition is being held in the region for the ninth time, and this year 15 teams from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Murmansk and Kaspiysk took part in it. The participants are mainly from schoolchildren and students of Russian universities.
As part of the competition, the teams demonstrated the skills of operating underwater vehicles in difficult conditions in the presence of obstacles, extracted the "flight recorder" from the model of the sunken MI-8 helicopter, measured the depth of the water area and created a 3D model of a given area.
The opening ceremony of the competition was attended by representatives of the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy, the Border Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Kalmykia and the Astrakhan Region, the Russian Maritime Rescue Service, the Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, DOSAAF of Russia, as well as leading manufacturers of autonomous and remote-controlled marine vehicles.
The event was attended by O.Kolomin, Head of Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Astrakhan and attache M.Rudov.
