🇷🇴 Întâlnirea Anuală a Corpului Diplomatic și Consular din România

Ambasada Ordinului Suveran de Malta pe lângă România a participat la întâlnirea anuală a Corpului Diplomatic și Consular, desfășurată la București sub conducerea ministrului afacerilor externe, E.S. Oana Toiu.

Ediția din acest an a avut loc la Opera Națională. Lucrările au fost deschise de președintele Senatului, E.S. Mircea Abrudan, care a subliniat rolul diplomației românești în promovarea stabilității regionale, sprijinirea Ucrainei și a Republicii Moldova, precum și continuarea procesului de aderare a României la OCDE.

Ministrul Toiu a prezentat prioritățile diplomatice ale României, punând accent pe diplomația economică, integrarea europeană a Republicii Moldova și importanța comunităților românești din străinătate.

Evenimentul a continuat cu un concert susținut de Orchestra Operei Naționale și o cină, prilej de dialog între autoritățile române și corpul diplomatic.

„Această întâlnire anuală reprezintă o ocazie importantă de a înțelege mai bine prioritățile României într-un context regional și global dificil. De asemenea, reafirmă spiritul de cooperare care ne ghidează prezența și activitatea în România”, a declarat Ambasadorul Roberto Musneci KM.

On Sunday, 30 August 2026, at the Church of Santo Redentore (Biserica Italiană “Preasfântul Mântuitor”) in Bucharest, HE Monsignor Giampiero Gloder, the Apostolic Nuncio to Romania, organised a Holy Mass for the repose of the soul of Blessed Pope John Paul I and to pray for his canonisation.

Blessed Pope John Paul I was beatified by Pope Francis in September 2022. Although his pontificate lasted only a short time, 33 days in total, his teachings left a profound spiritual legacy. In his apostolic messages, he addressed with clarity, inspiration, and theological rigour the virtues of faith, love, and hope.

The Holy Mass was concelebrated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Bucharest, HE Aurel Percă, and the Archbishop Emeritus, HE Ioan Robu. The celebration also offered an opportunity to highlight the work of the Associazione Papa Giovanni Paolo I, which continues to support the cause of canonisation of the late Pope, together with members of his family who were present at the Holy Mass.

The Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania, HE Roberto Musneci KM, attended the Mass together with the Ambassador of Italy to Romania, HE Laura Aghilarre. At the conclusion of the celebration, Ambassador Musneci stated, “It was a moving experience to hear, through the homily of the Apostolic Nuncio, how the brief pontificate of Blessed Papa Luciani in 1978 helped to shape, through humility and closeness to the people, the life of the Church over the past nearly fifty years.”

On 10 August 2026, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania, HE Roberto Musneci KM, continued the planned visits to the first two families who are part of the Embassy’s support programme in Ciofliceni, Ilfov County.

The Ambassador was joined by Mrs Andreea Oancea, founder of Asociația Almater Home, whose organisation has played a pivotal role in identifying the current beneficiaries, as well as other families expected to join the programme in September.

The families visited have several children, who have been encouraged to make small improvements to their homes between visits, as part of the programme’s wider emphasis on continuity, personal engagement, and shared responsibility.

At the conclusion of the visit, Ambassador Musneci stated, “Beyond the modest material assistance provided, spending time with people and listening to their stories is a humbling and deeply refreshing experience.” He added, “I warmly recommend it to all those who will join our efforts in the coming weeks and months.”

On 14 July 2026, Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Romania, HE Roberto Musneci KM, and Minister Counsellor Maria Gabriella Gambacurta attended the reception marking French National Day, at the invitation of the Ambassador of France to Romania, HE Nicolas Warnery.

The reception once again brought together a wide range of guests from Romanian public life, the diplomatic corps, and the wider community. Several members of the Cabinet were also present. In his remarks, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship between Romania and France within the Euro-Atlantic framework, as well as their shared commitment to addressing the challenges affecting the eastern flank and the broader context of geopolitical instability.

The occasion offered Ambassador Musneci and the Minister Counsellor the opportunity to exchange views with Romanian authorities and members of the diplomatic corps on current political developments in Romania.

At the conclusion of the event, Ambassador Musneci stated, “Beyond the clear convergence among many countries on the need to de-escalate current geopolitical tensions, occasions such as this provide a valuable opportunity to better understand the views and concerns of the political and diplomatic communities. Informal and constructive exchanges, held in a spirit of friendship, can often contribute meaningfully to mutual understanding and cooperation.”

Today, 10 July 2026, the Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania continued its visits to the families included in the support programme launched together with Asociația Almater Home in the Ciofliceni area of Ilfov County, Romania.

On this occasion, Ambassador Roberto Musneci KM was accompanied by Father Damiano of the Carmelite Monastery in Ciofliceni, whose continued support remains an important part of the initiative.

During this second round of visits, it was encouraging to see that some of the homes were already better cared for, and that the families received the Embassy in a more relaxed and familiar atmosphere. The Embassy has also agreed the schedule of visits for the coming months and hopes to gradually expand the number of beneficiaries as the programme develops.

At the conclusion of the visit, Ambassador Musneci thanked Father Damiano for his time, courtesy, and openness to continuing to support the Embassy’s efforts in favour of families living in particularly difficult conditions.

On 1 July 2026, the Minister Counselor of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania, Maria Gabriella Gambacurta, attended the celebration of Canada Day held at the historic Casa Doina restaurant in Bucharest.

Following the performance of the national anthems, the event was formally opened by H.E. Gavin Buchan, Ambassador of Canada to Romania. His address was followed by remarks from H.E. Oana-Silvia Țoiu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania.

Both speeches underscored the excellent bilateral relations and strong cooperation between Canada and Romania.

On this occasion, Ambassador Buchan also announced the conclusion of his diplomatic mission in Romania and expressed his sincere gratitude to the Romanian authorities for their support and collaboration throughout his tenure.

The Sovereign Order of Malta maintains a vibrant association of Knights and Dames in Canada. While actively engaged in charitable initiatives at national level, its members also contribute alongside the Order’s Romanian Relief Corps (Serviciul de Ajutor Maltez în România – SAMR), particularly in supporting populations affected by the war in Ukraine.

❗️ H.E. Ambassador Roberto Musneci has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order pro Merito Melitensi, one of the highest distinctions of the Sovereign Order of Malta, during a ceremony held at the Magistral Palace in Rome.

The distinction reflects his continued commitment to promoting the values and humanitarian mission of the Order. On this occasion, he stated: “It is a great honor for me to receive the Grand Cross, which I share with the Embassy team and all those who have supported our work over the years.”

❗️ E.S. Ambasadorul Roberto Musneci a fost distins cu Marea Cruce a Ordinului pro Merito Melitensi, una dintre cele mai înalte recunoașteri acordate de Ordinul Suveran de Malta, în cadrul unei ceremonii desfășurate la Palatul Magistral din Roma.

Distincția reflectă angajamentul constant în promovarea valorilor și misiunii umanitare ale Ordinului. Cu această ocazie, Ambasadorul a declarat: „Este o mare onoare pentru mine să primesc Marea Cruce, pe care o împărtășesc cu echipa Ambasadei și cu toți cei care ne-au sprijinit activitatea în acești ani.”
