NATO Force Integration Unit Romania Welcome to the official page of NFIU Romania. We facilitate the rapid deployment of NATO troops to Romania.

NFIU Romania’s mission is to facilitate the rapid deployment of NATO forces on Romanian territory. In cooperation with the Host Nation, Romania, NFIU will identify the logistics and transportation needs of these forces such that the deployment within the region can be executed, upon necessity, in a very short time. NFIU is a permanent presence of the Alliance on the Romanian territory, but it is not a military base, its purpose being to ensure the connection between the Alliance and Romania. The inauguration of the HQ took place in Bucharest on 2 July 2015 in the presence of the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, and the president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis. NFIU reach Final Capability in June 2016, prior to NATO Warsaw Summit. NFIU Romania has among its personnel officers, warrant officers and NCOs from 13 contributing countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, France, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States.

On 11 September 2001, 2,977 innocent lives were taken in terrorist attacks against the United States.

Within 24 hours, NATO Allies invoked Article 5 for the first time in our history. An attack on one is an attack on all.

Today, NFIU Romania remembers the victims, their loved ones, the first responders, and all those who served, including the thousands who made the ultimate sacrifice in the years that followed.

The in Ankara concluded with a clear message: NATO delivers. Defence investment is rising, new capabilities are being delivered, defence industrial production is expanding, and European Allies and Canada are assuming greater responsibility for their security.

Major new procurements were announced at the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum, which will boost defence production and innovation across the Alliance, and provide new capabilities to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence.

Allies also reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine pledging billions of euros in military aid.
