South African Embassy - Doha

His Excellency Ambassador Asmal and Mr James Mogale received and congratulated Mr Lecho Phele at the Embassy of South Africa, who broke the Guinness World Record on fastest crossing of Qatar on foot (male) in 1: 6: 6: 46 day ( 1 day, 6 hours and six minutes) on 14 November 2025.

Mr Lecho was awarded a certificate of his achievement by the Guinness World Record after rigorous verification process. Mr Phele expressed his gratitude to the Embassy of South Africa in Doha, the Ministry of Sports and Youth of the State of Qatar and the Qatar Athletics Federation for their support which culminated in the realisation of his dream.
