Featuring both Romanesque and Modern architectural elements, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Conception is situated on a hill overlooking the center of the parish of Castelo. According to historical records, it is believed that the site was once a fortified settlement. Its walls still bear medieval traces, and there are several tombs carved into the rock. The interior houses the image of Our Lady of Ó, a polychrome limestone sculpture from the 14th or 15th century. This sanctuary comprises the Church of Our Lady of the Conception, the Chapel of Saint Barbara, a bandstand, an information desk/café, restrooms, a viewpoint, and a picnic area.

De características Românicas e Modernas, o Santuário de Nossa Senhora da Conceição situa-se num monte sobranceiro ao centro da freguesia de Castelo. Segundo os registos bibliográficos, presume-se que o local tenha sido um povoado fortif**ado. As suas paredes ainda guardam vestígios medievais e, diversas sepulturas escavadas na rocha. O interior conserva a imagem de Nª Srª do Ó, policroma em calcário do século XIV ou XV. Este santuário é composto pela igreja Nª Srª da Conceição, Capela de Santa Bárbara, um coreto, posto de Informação/bar, sanitários, miradouro e parque de merendas.

The Fonte Coberta Dolmen belongs to the group of so-called “short-corridor or vestibular-type dolmens,“ an architecture uncommon in Northern Portugal and Galicia, but very similar to monuments in some southern regions of the country. It dates back to the Neolithic period and measures about 4.80m in length at the base level. It is oriented to the East, well differentiated from the chamber, both in plan and in elevation. The raw material used (granite) is abundant in the surrounding region. The Fonte Coberta Dolmen, one of the most important dolmens in northern Portugal, was classified as a National Monument in 1910. It is located in the center of a vast plain on the Chã plateau, part of the Vila Chã parish. This site is also an excellent reference point for practicing nighttime Starlight activities in the field of Astrotourism.

A Anta da Fonte Coberta pertence ao grupo dos denominados “dólmens de corredor curto ou de tipo vestibular” arquitetura pouco comum no Norte de Portugal e Galiza, mas muito semelhante a monumentos de algumas regiões do Sul do país. Enquadra-se no período do Neolítico e mede ao nível de base, cerca de 4,80m de comprimento e f**a orientada a Nascente, bem diferenciada da câmara, quer em planta quer em alçado. A matéria-prima utilizada (granito) abunda na região circundante. A Anta da Fonte Coberta um dos mais importantes dólmens do norte de Portugal, foi classif**ado como Monumento Nacional em 1910. Encontra-se implantada no centro de uma vasta planície no planalto da Chã, integrada na freguesia de Vila Chã. Este local é também um ótimo ponto de referência para a prática durante a noite da modalidade de Starlight na vertente do Astroturismo.

The municipality of Mesão Frio is one of the oldest in the Douro region, having received its charter in February 1152 by order of Afonso Henriques. It is located in the District of Vila Real, with the town center situated on a small plateau at an altitude of 380 meters, overlooking the Douro and Teixeira rivers.

The town of Mesão Frio lies at the foot of the Serra do Marão and faces the Serra das Meadas; it is bordered by the Douro River, as well as by its tributaries, the Teixeira and Sermanha.

Surrounded by vineyards, the town stretches across the terraces of the Serra do Marão to the banks of the Douro River, in a landscape dotted with manor houses and churches that vividly reflect the Douro’s most prosperous era—the 18th century.

O concelho de Mesão Frio é um dos mais antigos da região duriense, tendo recebido Foral em Fevereiro de 1152 por ordem de D. Afonso Henriques, f**a localizado no Distrito de Vila Real, situando-se o centro da vila num pequeno planalto a 380 metros de altitude, sobranceiro aos rios Douro e Teixeira.

A vila de Mesão Frio situa-se nas faldas da serra do Marão e defronte da serra das Meadas, é banhada pelo rio Douro, assim como pelos afluentes Teixeira e Sermanha.

The Moncorvo Iron & Regional Museum (MFRM) is a museum and cultural institution dedicated to promoting awareness and understanding of the archaeological and industrial heritage of the region, the settlements, and the communities that formed around the Reboredo Mountains and the Vilariça Valley, with a particular focus on activities related to iron mining. Its mission is to study and preserve the region’s archaeological and industrial heritage and, through this, promote its dissemination, prioritizing a range of educational activities with the aim of fostering, throughout the local community and among visitors, an appreciation for local history.

The original building dates back to the 17th century. The Hospital da Misericórdia operated here until 1892. It later served as army barracks until the building was destroyed by fire in 1897. The building remained in this state, practically in ruins, for 27 years until Commander Ribeiro Conceição purchased it from the City Council to build a beautiful theater there, which opened its doors to the public on the evening of February 2, 1929. The original façade was preserved, still bearing a coat of arms stone featuring the Portuguese royal crown. Until it was permanently closed to the public at the end of 1987, the Ribeiro Conceição Cinema-Theater offered several generations of Lamecenses a wide variety of performances, including cinema, theater, opera, concerts, ballet, various cultural events, circus, and more. The property was later acquired by the City Council, and in late 2005, restoration and modernization work began.

A primitiva construção remonta ao século XVII. Aqui funcionou o Hospital da Misericórdia até 1892. Serviu depois como aquartelamento do exército até o edifício ser destruído por um incêndio em 1897. O edifício assim ficou, praticamente em escombros, durante 27 anos até que o comendador Ribeiro Conceição o comprou à Câmara para ali construir um belo Teatro que abriria as portas ao público na noite de 2 de Fevereiro de 1929. A fachada original manteve-se, ostentando ainda uma pedra de armas com o escudo da coroa real portuguesa. Até ser definitivamente encerrado ao público, no final do ano de 1987, o Cine Teatro Ribeiro Conceição proporcionou a várias gerações de lamecenses espectáculos tão diversos, como cinema, teatro, ópera, concertos, bailado, saraus variados, circo, etc. O imóvel foi depois adquirido pela Câmara e no final de 2005 iniciaram-se as obras de reabilitação e modernização.

Located in a prominent spot, across from City Hall, the pillory of Freixo de Espada à Cinta is built in the Manueline style, featuring an octagonal shaft decorated with rosettes and a ring halfway up. It has an iron ring, and the capital features four iron rings arranged in a cross. The entire structure rests on a platform with three steps.

Localizado em lugar de destaque, em frente aos Paços do Concelho, o Pelourinho de Freixo de Espada à Cinta é de estilo manuelino com fuste octagonal decorado com florões e aro a meia altura. Possui um anel de ferro e o capitel apresenta quatro argolas em ferro dispostas em cruz. Todo o conjunto assenta numa plataforma de três degraus.

It is the only classified national monument in the municipality. It is an example of medieval architecture (Romanesque style). According to tradition, the church was built using stones from the demolished Armamar Castle, prior to the founding of the Salzedas Monastery. The probable date of its construction is in the late 12th century or early 13th century. It is quite likely that the current church succeeded an ancient chapel or hermitage of the same dedication (dating from before the 12th century) that may have originated from some pagan cult associated with the fortified settlement.

É o único monumento nacional classif**ado do Município. Trata-se de um exemplar da arquitetura medieval (estilo românico). Segundo a tradição a igreja terá sido construída com pedras do demolido Castelo de Armamar, antes da fundação do Mosteiro de Salzedas. A data provável da sua construção situar-se-á nos finais do século XII, princípios do século XIII. É bastante provável que a atual igreja tenha sucedido no tempo a uma antiga capela ou ermida da mesma invocação (anterior ao séc. XII) que tenha surgido de algum culto pagão castrejo.

Located in the historic district of Carrazeda de Ansiães, CICA (the Ansiães Castle Interpretive Center) is a cultural facility run by the Carrazeda de Ansiães Municipal Council, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the history of the municipality. Conceived from the ruins of a traditional house, the architectural project created a spacious two-story facility where archaeological artifacts are displayed, alongside a museum narrative grounded in ten years of archaeological research conducted throughout the municipality, particularly at the castle and walled town of Ansiães. The Ansiães Castle Interpretive Center offers an educational program that organizes various themed workshops and guided tours for schools and groups. It also runs two tourist circuits: the “Castle and Mills Tourist Circuit” and the “Castle and Douro Tourist Circuit,” which run from February through September. Visits are free, as is participation in the sightseeing tours.

Localizado na zona histórica de Carrazeda de Ansiães, o CICA, Centro Interpretativo do Castelo de Ansiães, é uma estrutura cultural da Câmara Municipal de Carrazeda de Ansiães, que permite ao visitante o encontro com a história do concelho. Pensado a partir das ruinas de uma casa tradicional, o projecto de arquitectura, criou um espaço amplo que se distribui por dois pisos onde se expõem artefactos arqueológicos e um discurso museográfico sustentado em dez anos de investigação arqueológica levada a cabo por todo o concelho, mas particularmente no castelo e vila amuralhada de Ansiães. O Centro Interpretativo do Castelo de Ansiães possui um serviço educativo que prepara vários ateliers temáticos e visitas guiadas destinados a escolas ou grupos. Organiza também dois circuitos turísticos, o “Circuito Turístico do Castelo e dos Moinhos” e o “Circuito Turístico do Castelo e Douro”, que se iniciam em Fevereiro e terminam em Setembro. As visitas são gratuitas assim como a participação nos roteiros turísticos.

The Favaios Museum Center – Bread and Wine explores the history of Muscat wine and artisanal bread from Favaios, seeking to highlight local resources and raise awareness of the traditions and processes associated with the production of these two products. It is housed in an 18th-century building, locally known as “a obra,” which was once part of the Leite Ribeiro family estate. It was an unfinished building of which only the main façade remained intact. Now restored and converted into a museum, it attracts approximately one million visitors annually. In addition to the permanent exhibition panels, it also features a temporary exhibition hall. The visit to the museum culminates in a delightful tasting of Muscat wine.

O Núcleo Museológico de Favaios - Pão e Vinho interpreta a história do vinho moscatel e do pão artesanal de Favaios, procurando valorizar os recursos locais e dar a conhecer tradições e processos associados à produção destes dois produtos. Está instalado num edifício do século XVIII, localmente conhecido como “a obra” que integrava o conjunto do solar da família Leite Ribeiro. Tratava-se de um edifício inacabado do qual subsistia em parte somente a sua fachada principal. Atualmente recuperado e adaptado a museu, conta com uma taxa de visitação anual de cerca de um milhão de pessoas. Além dos painéis de exibição permanente, dispõe ainda de uma sala de exposições temporárias. O culminar da visita ao museu presenteia os seus visitantes com uma bela prova de vinho moscatel.

The temple of S. João de Lobrigos is the most important physical landmark in the parish to which it gives its name. A source of pride for its parishioners, this church is their headquarters and spiritual representative. Its construction took place in two phases or campaigns: one in the 17th century, the other in the following century. The tower is slightly set back, or disproportionate in relation to the body of the church. The elders say that it was supposed to be taller, but the master died in the meantime, so it was left as it was. It has three distinct sections, and the arched galilee stands out at the entrance to the portico. But the church is worth seeing for the interior decoration of the altars, the ceiling (and walls) in fine gilded woodcarving in the national Baroque style, including the rich imagery and the valuable vestments. The altarpiece of the high altar is artistically elaborate.

O templo de S. João de Lobrigos é o marco físico de maior importância na Freguesia a que dá o nome. Motivo de orgulho dos seus paroquianos, esta igreja é a sua sede e representante espiritual. A sua construção concretizou-se em duas fases ou campanhas: uma no século XVII, a outra no século seguinte. A torre é um pouco retraída, ou desproporcionada em relação ao corpo da igreja. Dizem os mais velhos que era para ser mais alta, mas o mestre, entretanto morrera, f**ando mesmo assim. Apresenta três corpos distintos, e à entrada do pórtico sobressai a galilé de arco. Mas a igreja vale pela decoração interior dos altares, do teto (e paredes) em boa talha dourada do barroco nacional, incluindo a rica imaginária e os paramentos de grande valor.
