It was a pleasure for Ambassador Spiteri Cachia to accept the kind invitation of the Soċjetà Mużikali Sant’Antnin to visit their premises and meet members of the Committee.

She greatly appreciated their warm welcome and interesting exchange on the possibility of the Band performing in Lisbon and Fátima—a wonderful opportunity to showcase Malta’s musical traditions and strengthen the cultural bonds between Malta and Portugal.

Sincere thanks to the Committee for their hospitality and looking forward to continuing this conversation and hopefully welcoming the Band to Portugal soon.

Victory Day | 8 September

On 8 September Malta commemorates three defining moments in our history:

- The Great Siege of 1565
- The French Blockade of 1800
- The Second World War Siege of 1943

Across the centuries, the courage and sacrifice of the Maltese people shaped our nation and left a lasting legacy of resilience, courage and determination.

The official Victory Day ceremony takes place at the Great Siege Monument in Valletta, with wreaths also laid at Fort St Angelo, the Victory monuments in Vittoriosa and Senglea, and at the graves of World War II victims at the Addolorata Cemetery.

The day traditionally concludes with the Regatta boat races in the Grand Harbour — a vibrant celebration of Malta’s maritime heritage and enduring spirit. 🚣

🏛️ Embassy Closure

The Embassy of Malta in Lisbon will be closed on Tuesday, 8 September, in observance of Victory Day.

Another promising step for a young player developed in Maltese football. 🇲🇹⚽

Tony Imbroll, an academy player with St Andrews FC, has successfully passed trials with Portuguese club SC Braga and earned a place in the club’s elite youth setup.

Born in 2013, Imbroll is now based in Portugal with his family and will continue his development within Braga’s academy system, training alongside some of the country’s promising young players.

Before his time with St Andrews, Imbroll also spent several years developing within the Balzan FC Youth Academy, adding another chapter to his progression through Maltese youth football.

St Andrews also highlighted fellow academy graduate Caden Tanti, born in 2009, who has since progressed to Italian side Genoa.

Congratulations to Tony on an exciting new chapter in his football journey. 👏🇲🇹🇵🇹
