The Philippine Embassy in Lisbon marked Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) and the 10th anniversary of the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award during the Global Youth Impact Summit 2026 in Porto on 05 September 2026.

Speaking before more than 60 youth leaders from around the world, Ambassador Paul Raymund P. Cortes highlighted the Philippines’ commitment to peaceful dispute settlement, UNCLOS, dialogue, and a rules-based international order.

“We chose rules instead of force. We chose a peaceful process,” he said.

Ambassador Cortes also emphasized the Philippines’ approach of remaining firm on its rights while keeping channels for dialogue and cooperation open, particularly as the country chairs ASEAN in 2026.

Young Filipinos and children from other ASEAN communities joined Salinlahi, the Embassy’s Buwan ng Wika, ASEAN Month and MANAMo kickoff program in Lisbon.

The activity helped second-generation Filipinos connect with their heritage while introducing Philippine culture to their ASEAN peers. Portuguese parent Helder Alexandre said children being raised in Lisbon have relatively few opportunities to experience Filipino culture firsthand and encouraged the Embassy to hold more activities like this.

Ngayong Agosto, nakikiisa ang Embahada ng Pilipinas sa Lisbon, Portugal sa paggunita ng Buwan ng International Humanitarian Law (IHL) alinsunod sa Executive Order No. 134, s. 1999.

Ang paggunita ay naglalayong palawakin ang kamalayan sa kahalagahan ng International Humanitarian Law sa pagprotekta sa buhay, dignidad, at kapakanan ng mga apektado ng armadong tunggalian.

Sa anumang sitwasyon ng tunggalian, manaig nawa ang pagiging makatao, paggalang sa buhay, at dignidad ng bawat isa.
