Paço da Glória

Paço da Glória Paço da Glória, widely acclaimed as one of Portugal’s most glorious manor houses, opens its doors to the discerning world traveler.

Spend time in a house with roots back to the early 13th century when Martinho Fernandes Vilarinho built a defensive tower on a hill overlooking the romantic Lima River valley. This tower is now incorporated within the present mansion, built in the 1720’s by Francisco de Araújo e Amorim, member of a noble family descended from Leovegildo, a 6th century Visigothic King of Spain. The house visibly re

flects the highest point in Portugal’s colonial history when the treasures of India and Brazil led to the richness of the renowned Portuguese Baroque art. The house is richly furnished in Portuguese and European antiques. Surrounded by over one hectare of formal gardens in several styles ranging from English to Japanese, the setting is breathtaking, especially at evening twilight when the amazing colors of the sunset over the Atlantic can be enjoyed from the terrace. A stop not to be missed on your next trip to Portugal!
