Recently, we participated in the DACO Forum on Strategic Fuel Supply and Hurricane Preparedness, reinforcing our commitment to preparedness, resilience, and interagency collaboration.

Events like this strengthen coordination among government agencies as part of our preparedness to respond to emergencies during hurricane season, demonstrating that we are ready to support our communities when they need it most.

It was a privilege to recognize my friend, Brig. Gen. Paul Dahlen, with the Legion of Merit. Throughout his distinguished career, Paul exemplified selfless service, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the Soldiers, Airmen, and families he served.

His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the Puerto Rico National Guard and on all of us who had the opportunity to serve alongside him. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for your friendship, mentorship, and decades of service to our Nation.

Well done, my friend.

Today, I visited both Culebra and Vieques to meet with municipal leaders and emergency management officials as we continue preparing for the 2026 hurricane season.

In Culebra, I met with Mayor Edilberto “Junito” Romero Llovet, and in Vieques, I had the opportunity to meet with the Vice Mayor representing Mayor José A. Corcino Acevedo, along with the Director of Emergency Management and the Municipal Police Commissioner. Together, we reviewed emergency preparedness plans, discussed local capabilities and challenges, and strengthened coordination efforts to ensure a unified response should an emergency impact either island municipality.

These engagements reinforce an important principle: readiness is built through partnerships, communication, and planning long before a storm threatens our shores. By working closely with local leaders and emergency response partners, we enhance our ability to protect lives, safeguard critical resources, and support our communities when they need us most.

I appreciate the commitment and dedication of the leaders and first responders serving the people of Culebra and Vieques. The Puerto Rico National Guard remains ready to support our municipal partners and stand alongside the people of Puerto Rico throughout this hurricane season and beyond.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak with the people of Puerto Rico through various media outlets to provide updates on the Puerto Rico National Guard’s ongoing support during the metropolitan area water emergency.

My message has been simple: our Soldiers are on the ground, working alongside the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), municipal emergency management offices, and government partners to help ensure critical water supplies reach the communities that need them most in San Juan, Guaynabo, Bayamón, and other affected areas.

I am incredibly proud of the professionalism, dedication, and readiness our Citizen-Soldiers have demonstrated throughout this mission. Their efforts are a reminder that the Puerto Rico National Guard is always prepared to support our communities when called upon.

Serving the people of Puerto Rico is at the heart of what we do. Whether responding to emergencies, supporting disaster relief operations, or assisting our fellow citizens during times of need, we remain committed to being ready, responsive, and always present.

I have witnessed firsthand the dedication and commitment of our Soldiers as they continue supporting communities affected by the ongoing water emergency across the metropolitan area. Working alongside the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA) and municipal emergency management teams, our men and women have been helping deliver critical assistance to residents in Guaynabo, Bayamón, and other affected municipalities.

Whether distributing water supplies, supporting local response efforts, or helping ensure essential resources reach those in need, our Soldiers have remained focused on the mission and committed to the people they serve. Their efforts reflect the very best of the Puerto Rico National Guard: selfless service, professionalism, and an unwavering dedication to our communities.

I am proud of the resilience they have demonstrated throughout this mission and grateful for the strong partnerships that allow us to respond effectively during times of need. Readiness is more than a responsibility—it is a promise to the people of Puerto Rico.

We will continue to stand alongside our communities and support our fellow citizens for as long as we are needed.

Today, I had the opportunity to meet with Illinois National Guard Assistant Adjutant General BG Williams and State Command Sergeant Major Kelly to discuss ways to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between our organizations.

Our discussions focused on expanding training opportunities, enhancing readiness, and ensuring our Soldiers continue to benefit from shared experiences and professional development. Strong partnerships like these allow us to exchange knowledge, improve interoperability, and better prepare our forces for future missions.

I appreciate the continued collaboration and commitment of our Illinois National Guard partners. By working together, we are building stronger leaders, more capable formations, and a force that remains ready to serve our communities and our Nation whenever called upon.

As we begin the 2026 Hurricane Season, I joined emergency management leaders and government partners to review plans, assess capabilities, and ensure we are prepared to respond to any challenge that may impact Puerto Rico. 🇺🇸🇵🇷

These coordination efforts are essential to building a unified response before an emergency occurs. Through planning, training, and strong partnerships, we strengthen our ability to protect lives, support communities, and deliver critical assistance when it is needed most.

The Puerto Rico National Guard stands ready alongside our local, state, and federal partners to support the people of Puerto Rico throughout this hurricane season. Readiness is not built when the storm arrives; it is built through preparation, collaboration, and commitment long before the first forecast is issued.

Together, we remain vigilant, prepared, and Siempre Presente.

Today, I had the privilege of meeting with our Soldiers before they departed in support of a new mission. Moments like these serve as a powerful reminder of the dedication, courage, and selfless service that define the men and women of the Puerto Rico National Guard. 🇺🇸🇵🇷

As they answer the call to serve, they carry with them the trust of our communities, the pride of Puerto Rico, and the values that guide our organization. I have no doubt they will represent our Guard with professionalism, integrity, and excellence every step of the way.

To our Soldiers: thank you for your commitment and willingness to serve wherever you are needed. Stay safe, look after one another, and make the most of every opportunity to grow as leaders and professionals.

We are proud of you, we stand behind you, and we look forward to welcoming you home upon the successful completion of your mission.
