El Municipio Autónomo de Guayama y su administración, tienen un compromiso e interés extraordinario en fomentar el desarrollo de nuestros ciudadanos en un ambiente creativo, futurista, evolutivo y alcanzar la meta de la transformación educativa social de nuestros usuarios. A tenor con la misión de lograr este desarrollo integral de nuestra ciudadanía, proponemos la ampliación del proceso de ense

ñanza y aprendizaje con un estilo novel estableciendo el Instituto para el Desarrollo, la Educación y Acción Social (IDEAS). ubica una biblioteca pública dentro del centro comercial denominado Plaza Guayama “Mall”. Mediante este esfuerzo multisectorial, que fomenta la alianza entre el Municipio Autónomo de Guayama, y la empresa privada “Plaza Guayama” quienes han donado un local por los próximos dos años. Hemos unido voluntades para lograr el éxito del proyecto. cuenta con el apoyo de fondos Municipales y federales (a través de una propuesta Federal E-Rate”). La apertura del Centro I.D.E.A.S. se llevó a cabo el día 31 de enero de 2014 (1:00pm). Nuestra alianza ejemplifica nuestro compromiso con la educación y acción social. Los usuarios del IDEAS se beneficiaran de:

We further grieve the Global magnitude of said loss, as we are aware, that countless deaths could have been prevented by the ameliorating ointment of judicious foresight & risk management! We cannot afford to stall the implementation of a resolute and adaptable containment plan, THAT MUST NOT FAIL NOR BE BESET BY BIGOTRY OR POLITICAL DYSFUNCTION. We must rise above partisanship and nationalism. Moreover, we boldly proclaim that the gravity of this crisis is so dire, that NO FAMILY, IN THE USA, NOR THE WORLD ENTIRE, EXISTS UNSCATHED. Our collective journey as 'one nation under God', exists inextricably linked to the many ethical imperatives that may arise over the course of a unified mission of mercy, that will not stop at protecting just its own, embracing instead, a global G20 initiative that pledges the sharing of substantive 'best practice' procedures and financial subsidy for prevention, treatment and inoculation of all families worldwide. Puerto Rico is now facing another imminent threat as tropical storm "Dorian" is expected to make landfall in the region of Ponce. We are reverently aware of the clear and present danger that this cyclone can cause for tens of thousands of families that are still struggling to keep their homes together with tattered blue tarps...& many that didn't even receive a tarp at all. REFLECTIONS OUTSIDE OF TIME"

The theory of relativity, would suggest that one cannot equivocate regarding the latent nature of "cause and effect" and our insulated perception of time, for we may be able to perceive it's passage... However, the many reflections and lineage of the long suffered, those that have survived for posterities' sake as their spirit embraces a realm of sublimity; enveloped within the warmth of a golden fleece of unbridled hope.

A hope that engenders cause through the imagination...the creative glue of survival, that can enable our minds to exist outside of time. This place of which I speak, is sadly limited by the vitriolic lens of relativity misunderstood...in which our stewardship of human capital that is commonly overlooked. A symptom of devaluation that can loose sight of our most precious jewels. A worthy reflection that transcends the static nature of our corporeal existence...of ourselves, our past, and the love rendered sacrifice without compromise, these are our sanctuary of nurture and are beacons of grounding purpose--for us all.

The darkness of human history is redeemable through the eloquence of humanism; a path that emboldens the spirit with the gift of a golden heart, a heroism that shines with the luminescent gifts of creative perpetuity... This realm of which I speak, is a realm of the imagination, of human potential, and the power of a collective memory that values reconciliation and the binding ties of creative purpose, that resonate as a common thread in the vast interwoven fabric of our remarkable cosmos. As we consider the unique resolve of our diverse potential, we are exposed to enriching components that can reflect, and enact proactive change that enables the attainment of an equitable future.

This future is unfaithful to rules, that transgress the innate rights of natural law... Let us empower our present, with a disposition that dares to imagine the vast facets of possibility...through purposeful engagement of an evolving philosophy that is acquiescent to the better angels of human nature, the soothing social medicine of educational empowerment--the quitisential shepherds staff; that can indeed overcome the regressive realities of social stagnation and malicious nullification.

We needn't accept this status quo, within which one can narrate far too many instances that resemble "classist" principles which have been fashioned for the "privileged few"...This regressive system can be confronted by empathy driven prosocial ideals. Indeed, the dystopian "world order" mentioned above, is a "Goliath" that can be vanquished...This social disease is a foe to our sustainability as a species. I audaciously proclaim that a future which is devoid of the principles of empathy, will surely perish in the troths of infamy.

"WE", must foster intercultural inclusiveness and transformational leadership that espouse more than hollow rhetoric.

This Author does boldly defend the effectiveness of authentic altruism. These are the human bricks of a magnificent cathedral of diversity, and the reciprocity of BOLD IDEAS...many of which have sprouted fruit within me, from the most humble of roots. Nevertheless, I do boldly propose a creative educational transformation, "a rebirth of wonder", from which are sown the seeds of a shared vision, of creative adaptability...

My soapbox, is comprised of billions of disenfranchised souls, this volume is but a metaphor for a worldwide cancer of ethnic disparities, as this author recants his own memories of a virulent and continuous Black & Latino Diaspora on the USA mainland and the small Nation-State island of Puerto Rico. Said realities, are detailed throughout this narrative and are a continuing symptom of inhumane categorizations of "The Ethnic Other". Many vicious systemic institutional currents have assailed this Author's family for countless generations, to this very day. These are prime examples of how far we have yet to traverse, so that we can reach that "promised land" of which my Mom & Dad spoke so faithfully...and with that reflection of cause and faith...I unapologetically proclaim my resistance; with the throaty growl of uncompromising activism; I do emphatically proclaim through this lens of progressive reflection, as I echo those special souls that afforded me with the bountiful gift of love, and an example of sacrifice for "the other"-- I have been enlightened by a reflection that is now a reimagined future...a willingness to endure creative sacrifice for a common goal. A triumphant emergence of the underestimated champion--a hero of "we", a unity that can disarticulate the machinations of a globalized Leviathan of inequity, that thrives on the social poison of fear & hate. But history has shown me that no one is small, and that there is no force on earth that can withstand the power of unity and possibility. Our champions, are the genesis of multilateral collaboration--a plurality of cause that can slay the wayward consumerist "Goliath" of our time, which is the stifling foe of the "poor majority", one that feasts on the "Modus Operandi"... but is nonetheless incapable of grasping the innate power of a present that is enlightened by a reimagined future; that by its very nature, is the impetus of an empowered society. A society that can create and imagine a bold "new deal", bold enough to reflect the best of cultural heritage, and usher in a future that is unbridled by the strictures of disempowered relativity. That is the bitter fruit of "US" against the "Other"...a tragic legacy of inaction and nihilistic compromise.

Estimados Amigos de IDEAS,
Reciban un saludo cordial y afectuoso de este servidor. Desde el huracán María, he tenido la oportunidad de ver a muchos de ustedes, mientras trabajábamos arduamente por las calles y todos los barrios de Guayama dando el máximo para ayudar en lo que podamos—para que nuestro querido pueblo se levante. Les escribo con optimismo que nuestra IDEAS están más calibradas y poderosas que nunca. Por esa razón, les envío esta misiva recordatoria— sin inversión en la educación, las artes y la cultura—no alcanzaríamos nuestros objetivos en ninguna profesión. ¡Porque la creatividad es la ruta hacia el éxito!
Por eso nos dedicamos a la reforma continua de la educación—fusionado con nuestra metodología perpetuamente creativa. Sin embargo, contamos con todos ustedes para sostener esta misión, porque sin nuestras IDEAS—nuestra restauración sería incompleta.
Una gran parte de nuestros Próceres Municipales también eran próceres a nivel Isla, innovando e invirtiendo sus talentos con el interés de influir la formación equilibrado de Puerto Rico, eran influyentes en la política pública, y sus contribuciones particulares variaban dentro de un espectro amplio de profesiones. Eran académicos, médicos, ingenieros y promotores de las artes y el fomento de nuestra cultura a nivel isla—eran artistas, poetas, músicos, y líderes de su era.
Estas musas de nuestra historia como pueblo ejemplifican nuestra misión en ideas—modernizado nuestros métodos, pero anclados con conocimiento y el deber de estimular la memoria colectiva de nuestro pueblo—para que podamos crear un futuro sostenible en los mejores intereses de todos.
En IDEAS utilizamos métodos creativos para la enseñanza de la tecnología. Porque la creatividad es un elemento fundamental para el éxito en cualquier profesión o función—Eso es la misión de ideas, utilizar las artes como p**o de lanza para nutrir nuestro potencial como pueblo. CREATIVE INTERDISCIPLINARY FUSION:
THE ESSENCE OF HIGH ORDER TEACHING & LEARNING

Context, Creativity, Empathy & Authenticity: Four educational enablers, that guided my career success in our honorable profession that spans over 20 years. Being an Educator entails a daily immersion in one’s values, renewing commitments to oneself, re-energized to serve and empower our future leaders, providing them with the tools they need to create their solutions and adapt to life’s challenges with optimism and perseverance. We Educators, must be role-models for our learners that reflect passion for teaching & learning and guidance from the heart, attuned to the contexts of our learners, designing custom strategies to meet their exceptionalities. Educators must always strive to perfect their craft with creative interventions and interdisciplinary curriculum development, infused with innovation.
We need to take the elitist idealistic vocabulary that we read in our teacher education programs and share some of these concepts in our respective classrooms with our students. I say this because I remember when I was first introduced to words like Constructivism, Meta-Cognition, Multiple Intelligences, as well as student directed “flow moments” which was the object of extensive research that was developed by my Friend & Mentor Dr. Lori Custodero, Associate Professor, Teachers College/Columbia University. Her groundbreaking research along with the other standard teacher education literature, these words and ideas need to be brought into or school, as part of a vocabulary that stimulates diverse thinking strategies. I have heard teachers say, “ that’s too complicated that’s college level material.” This was the reaction of a teacher who was clearly expressing that these types of reflection are not suitable for “these types of kids”, he was not in agreement with my High Expectations and engaging but rigorous instructional strategies, nor did he understand my unshakable faith in my students, at that point, I did not respond to the comment. It was his opinion, although it was culturally and academically demeaning to our student population.
This type of behavior needs to be address & managed through administrative channels and perhaps even a DISTRICT WIDE initiative that evens the playing field.
In fact, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) teachers & administrators frequently quote a district catch phrase that dictates the following expectation: “We are preparing our students to be college & career ready”… In my opinion the college needs to come to them!…& in my classroom and professional development sessions it does. That simple objective is one of the many strategies that I promote for implementation in the classroom…and yes, my students do grasp reflective concepts like thinking about thought(meta-cognition), as one student explained, “this is a way that can help us learn and better manage our behaviors” said one student.
Words & rhetoric taught as the art of persuasion resonates with middle school students, many of which struggle with self-expression because they haven’t been presented the tools & the “wait time” to apply it to their classwork, and an infinitesimal quantity of students are even remotely being encouraged to use rigorous words, strategies, and reflective philosophies memorialized in their daily life. But I can personally vouch for the strategy utilized in my focus group that reflects the methodologies expressed within this article were transformed by opening the door to creativity which caused a notable change in the conversations that I sustained with parents who I empowered as partners in the best interests of the student, they felt like part of our academic team, a school that listens to their feedback.
Of course, the activities and deliveries of the vocabulary mentioned above as well as many other rigorous words that are nourishing food for thought, the content is incrementally explained in tangible attainable steps aligned with Arts Standard & anchor Standard across core subject. So that the learner can begin building their persuasive tool kit. and explain its meaning in ways that our young learners will understand and provide positive reinforcement for students that engage in the initiatives are initiatives that need to be rewarded words that I can only imagine that most of you were stricken with in awe, when considering their intrinsic and ongoing value & meaning for us and the communities we are entrusted to guide. We must convey our crafts with open minds, with passion & authenticity. The predominantly successful anticipatory set is one that is by nature a creative prompt, those that frequent said realm, often can attest to the unequivocal truth that any prompt or problem can be delivered inverted, cross referenced and ultimately explained many ways, over the course of infinity. Recogning this existence of multiple ways of thinking and processing information, allows your own authenticity to act as a beacon that leads your learners toward success, their own self-reflection and pursuit of higher goals. This can only be achieved through a mutual sharing of contexts and an environment of mutual respect and trust.
The learner can then be given the quintessential challenge that could prepare them to thrive on cognition, with reflection time to develop fluid integrated cognitive function...the fruit of a challenging seed that must be watered with guidance. However, the students must do the planting. Because creativity is the blossoming virtue of honor & authenticity, and that is a gift that humankind must give themselves. This process is made easier when the teacher has challenged themselves, and is attuned to the needs of the learner, because empathy is a vital ingredient from which one derives meaning that can help them become builders of synthesis, regularly immersed in tangible narrative that promote proactive conduct, which is a choice to become our better selves through a creative classroom environment, that inspires the learner to seek out the nexus between creativity, authenticity, and enlightened critical thinking.
In the particular class that was shared via social media by PGCPS Regional District Leadership...they entered my classroom and saw me engaging in my true nature, one that was embarking on a path of observation and my own process of daily learning, as I pointed out strategies that can help one use the "Audiation" skills & Active listening among other fundamental components within music, sharing my secrets, and the power of emotional investment, that is willing to reflect on literature through a creative lens. This manner of self-expression enables the learner to engage a plethora of creative modalities for problem solving in every subject. A classroom that consistently promotes problem solving through comparative and interdisciplinary interventions is powerfully enabling the learner to express through ART what cannot be expressed with words, and through that process gaining a profound understanding of the content & themselves.
In effect. this connection between musical form and expression was built upon the fundamentals of Music & RELA Vocabulary that challenges and introduces the student to the empowerment of Rhetoric--the ART of Persuasion, wherein its mastery holds a treasure trove of opportunities. But there is no rush! Because the process of problem solving is the self-rewarding act of creation, reformulation, truly infinite diversity within infinite combinations. They are now transfixed with attentive eyes that endeavor to make connections with etymology, history, and the society in which they will strive, thrive and break the "fictitious ceiling of learning"—through self-direction they will exceed their goals... All of this can happen every day through the integrated mind with which creativity has helped imbue. It's not long before we begin to realize that teaching is less about sharing a fact, and more about helping the learner become aware of what they already know. Because humanity is innately inclined toward knowledge and curious imaginations are what fortifies our leaders of tomorrow.... But fear not my dear colleagues, all this learning & exploration is executed with incremental small steps such as the Music Vocabulary that we were committing to their long term memory through active and productive use of all the tools for which we all yearn....we fused Music, Visual art, Reading; Active listening that produced informed self-expression and student led discussion about the Social Sciences, History & their connection to the task at hand for completion of a Reading English & Language Arts "Creative Intervention". Essay formats & structure were meaningfully entwined with musical form through the sturdy bridge of interdisciplinary connections that provide thoughtful experiences that resonate with the context of the learner. This is "arts integration", reduced to it lowest common denominator...Creativity! A fundamental component of academic perseverance & the impetus to create your dreams & transcend your goals which will set your learners on a path for college & career readiness....and BEYOND! © 2018
