Aj počas leta pokračujeme v práci na projekte Not Just a Game. 🌞

📸 Highlights from the final conference of our project, held on 5 June 2026 in Bastia!
The conference was organised in common by IRIPS and Etudes & Chantiers.
Sport is much more than a game. It is a powerful tool to promote democratic values, strengthen social cohesion, and prevent radicalisation and extremism among vulnerable young people.

During the final conference, the project partners presented the main outcomes of the project, including an online training programme, a Community of Practice, and policy recommendations designed to strengthen the capacity of youth workers, coaches and sport professionals.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to all participants and partners for their engagement, inspiring discussions and valuable contributions throughout the project.

💙 Together, we can harness the power of sport to build inclusion, trust and resilience.

🌍⚽ Sport as a driver of peace and sustainable development

Did you know that sport can contribute to achieving several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

According to sport-for-development expert Dr Lin C. Sambili Gicheha, when used intentionally, sport can promote peace, strengthen communities, empower individuals, and support social inclusion.

Beyond physical activity, sport creates opportunities for dialogue, cooperation, leadership, and mutual understanding — all essential elements for building more resilient and inclusive societies.

At Not Just A Game, we believe in the transformative power of sport and its ability to create positive opportunities for young people across Europe.

💡 Sport is not just a game — it is a tool for development, peace, and social change.

🌟⚽ Sport can do much more than improve physical health.

Research shows that well-designed sport programmes can help young people develop important life skills such as self-confidence, teamwork, leadership, emotional regulation, and resilience.

When sport is combined with positive guidance and supportive environments, it can contribute to healthy youth development and strengthen young people's ability to face challenges both on and off the field.

At Not Just A Game, we believe that sport can be a powerful tool for promoting inclusion, empowering young people, and creating opportunities for personal growth.

💪 Every training session can be an opportunity to learn, connect, and build a brighter future.

Interventions focused on young people at risk of anti-social and criminal behaviour frequently involve physical exercise and/or participation in sporting activities as a primary vehicle to bring about behavioural change in both the short to medium ...

💬🤝 Can sport teach empathy?

Empathy is one of the most important skills young people can develop. It helps us understand different perspectives, build meaningful relationships, and create more inclusive communities.

Research and practical experience show that sport provides unique opportunities to foster empathy. By working together towards common goals, respecting teammates and opponents, and learning to navigate both success and failure, young people develop a greater understanding of others and their experiences.

At Not Just A Game, we believe that these social and emotional skills are essential for preventing exclusion, reducing prejudice, and strengthening resilience among young people.

⚽ Sport is not only about physical activity — it is also a powerful space for learning, understanding, and personal growth.

Empathy is defined as the ability to focus on what other people are thinking and understand how other people see things. This critical skill in sports has tremendous benefits to not only athletes but also to parents and coaches. Research shows that when individuals are able to show sincere empathy t...
