HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT AS SUMO LEGEND IS COMING TO SCOTLAND FOR EUROPEAN SUMO CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇬🇪 🇯🇵

For the first time ever, legendary former Komusubi Kokkai Futoshi is coming to Scotland!

Kokkai is Georgia’s trailblazing sumo great — the first Georgian rikishi ever to reach sumo’s top makuuchi division in Japan. He achieved the elite rank of Komusubi in 2006, earned two Fighting Spirit special prizes, and claimed two gold stars for defeating reigning yokozuna — a rare and prestigious feat.

Known for his powerful, all‑action style and determination, he opened doors for European athletes in professional sumo. Today he remains a proud ambassador for Georgian and European sumo development.

Now he’s making his first ever trip to Scotland to attend the 2026 European Sumo Championships and meet fans!

EUROPEAN SUMO CHAMPIONSHIPS 2026 – SCOTLAND MAKES HISTORY 🔥 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺

Tickets are on sale now and are limited as For the first time EVER in Scotland — and the first time anywhere in the British Isles — the European Sumo Championships arrive at the University of Stirling Sports Centre on Saturday 27th June 2026. This is not just another tournament. It’s a historic milestone and a moment that may not come again. Awarded by the European Sumo Federation, Scotland earned the right to host Europe’s biggest sumo event — and now the continent’s strongest heavyweights, lightning-fast technicians and fearless warriors step onto Scottish soil. Men and women. Elite. International. Relentless. Expect explosive clashes, raw power colliding with precision technique, David vs Goliath battles and edge-of-your-seat action all day.

The event will be streamed live on the SumoScott YouTube channel (formerly World of Sumo) — and it will be a world-class broadcast — but nothing compares to being there in person. When behemoths collide and the arena shakes, when a last-second throw detonates the crowd, when Scottish athletes step onto the dohyo to a home roar… you don’t just see it, you feel it.

This is more than a championship — it’s a full-day celebration of Scottish pride and Japanese tradition. Multiple cafés will be open throughout the venue, alongside official merchandise stands, vendor stalls, cultural displays and continuous entertainment across the day, including live performances and interactive experiences — plus the debut of our mascot Angus Ironhoof.

General Admission gives you excellent seating and full access to the entire day. VIP takes it further — priority positioning and, for a limited number of guests, authentic-style cushion seating at ringside, right on the edge of the dohyo, closer to the impact and intensity.
