On Wednesday, 28 March 2018, a very special videoconference took place. It was because of the fact that our youngest students attended that meeting , most of whom took part for the first time. The Hlukhiv Secondary School - Ukraine was our partner.
The VC began with students explaining what community means to them, and describing some of the things they like about their community as well as suggesting things that they might change about their community if they could. Next, students talked about some of the festivals and holidays that are celebrated in their community, and what these mean to them personally. Students described a range of festivals, including religious and cultural ones like Christmas, Easter, and New Year, as well as local and national celebrations such as street festivals and celebrations of independence. It was great that some students at each school described some of their own personal traditions and how they and they families mark and celebrate these festivals. There was an opportunity for students to respond to each other with comments and questions, which explored aspects of school life and culture.
