A high-level delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Bank Group, led by Simon Andrews, Director Pakistan, and Sahar Etezaz, Country Officer visited the Buildings Energy Research Centre (BERC) the other day. The visit was aimed to review and follow-up on the License and Cooperation Agreement signed between IFC and UET Peshawar and to explore collaboration in green building education, sustainable development and industry-relevant skills. The delegation was received by Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, along with senior university officials and visited the Buildings Energy Research Center (BERC) and the Earthquake Engineering Center.

Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar while welcoming the delegation said, strong partnerships between academia and international development institutions were essential for addressing challenges related to climate change, energy efficiency and sustainable growth. “Pakistan’s sustainable future is the priority of this day and it is heartening to note that IFC has been instrumental in supporting clean energy and sustainable development while reaffirming UET Peshawar’scommitment to strengthen such partnerships by translating the academic knowledge and research to produce result oriented solutions for the country,” he said.

Simon Andrews appreciated the efforts of UET Peshawar and BERC in advancing energy efficiency, resource management and skills development. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and creative discourse among academia, industry and development partners to build a sustainable future.

Best Teacher Award Certificate Distribution Ceremony Held at UET Peshawar

The Best Teacher Award Certificate Distribution Ceremony for the Faculty of Mechanical, Chemical and Industrial Engineering (FMCIE) was held the other day. The ceremony was organized under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Mudassir Habib, Associate Dean, FMCIE. Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar was the Chief Guest and presented certificates to the award recipients.
In his welcome address, Prof. Dr. Rizwan M. Gul, Senior Dean, FMCIE, congratulated all the award-winning faculty members and appreciated their exemplary commitment to teaching excellence. He stated, the award recipients were selected on the basis of the highest teaching evaluation scores awarded by final-year students for the Academic Year 2025–26, in accordance with the guidelines and evaluation criteria prescribed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). He emphasized that recognition of outstanding teachers not only acknowledges individual achievements but also encourages a culture of excellence, professionalism and continuous improvement within the faculty.
Addressing the award recipients, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Rizwan M. Gul and his team for continuing the Best Teacher Award initiative, describing it as an important step towards promoting a culture of academic excellence at the University. He emphasized the need to extend similar recognition initiatives to other faculties so that faculty members are encouraged to continuously enhance their teaching practices and professional development.
Congratulating the award recipients, the Vice Chancellor said, “This recognition reflects your hard work, commitment and valuable contribution to the success of our students, the University and the wider community.”

Ms. Tahira Khalil Successfully Defends Ph.D. Dissertation

Ms. Tahira Khalil, Ph.D. Scholar, Department of Computer Science, UET Peshawar successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sadeeq Jan at the Video Conference Hall, UET Peshawar, today. The title of her research thesis was“Violence Scene Prediction and Filtering in Animated Videos”. She presented her thesis in an open-house public seminar followed by a Viva-Voce Examination conducted by the Examination Committee.

The dissertation defense was attended by faculty members, researchers and students of the University. The examination was organized by the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies, UET Peshawar.

UET Peshawar Successfully Concludes Phase-I of HEC Mentoring Program

UET Peshawar successfully implemented Phase-I of the Mentoring Program for Universities (MPU), comprising its first cohort of 23 mentors and mentees. MPU is a national initiative of the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), Higher Education Commission (HEC), aimed at strengthening professional development, leadership, collaborative learning and human resource capacity in higher education institutions.
The closing ceremony was held at UET Peshawar today, marking the successful completion of Phase-I, conducted from April 21 to July 14, 2026. The programme promoted professional development, knowledge sharing and a structured culture of mentoring among university faculty and administrative professionals.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak appreciated HEC and NAHE for their leadership and continued support in promoting mentoring across Pakistan. Senior Dean and Convener MPU, UET Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Rizwan Gul, said the initiative has strengthened knowledge sharing and laid the foundation for expanding mentoring to peer-to-peer and student mentoring in the future.
Dr. Shamaila Farooq, Director Media & Publications and Focal Person, MPU, said the three-month programme emphasized gender inclusion, leadership and governance, professional ethics, AI and digital tools, and career development, with participation from mentors and mentees at UET Peshawar and partner institutions.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to participating mentors and mentees. The mentoring journey continues—with greater engagement, shared experience and professional growth.

Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak Highlights OBE Reforms at KP Higher Education Consultation, held at University of Swat.

Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor, UET Peshawar, participated in and addressed the two-day Leadership Consultation for Curriculum Reforms and Good Governance in KP Higher Education, hosted by the University of Swat and organized by the HED KP Curriculum Cell in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Cell on 22-23 August, 2026..

Speaking at the consultation, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak emphasized the importance of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in transforming higher education into a student-centered, skills-oriented, and industry-relevant system. He highlighted that effective OBE implementation can improve learning outcomes, assessment, quality assurance, graduate employability, and institutional accountability while equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to meet emerging technological and societal challenges.

The consultation brought together Vice Chancellors, senior academics, HEC representatives, and HED KP officials to deliberate on curriculum reforms and good governance. The participants also discussed a roadmap for the phased implementation of OBE across KP's higher education institutions in line with HEC guidelines.
