Department of English UAJ&K Welcome to the Department of English at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where language meets creativity!

Our vibrant community fosters critical thinking and innovative expression, preparing students for a world of possibilities. The department offers a relatively new field of studies i.e., Linguistics along with the traditional and long studied subject Literature. A great deal of emphasis is placed on development of English Language skills and on producing professionals and competent language teachers who are equally conversant with English Literature.

We are delighted to share that Uzair Ayoub Mughal, our brilliant student from BS English – 8th Semester, has been selected in the Lahore Qalandars Player Development Program and also in the Kashmir Supreme League (KSL) during the competitive trials held today at Muzaffarabad Stadium! 🏏🔥

Today, the English Department at the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir held a heartfelt prayer gathering in remembrance of two distinguished members of our academic family:

Professor Muhammad Sarfraz Chaudhry , former Chairman, English Department
Dr. Amir Saeed Khattak, an esteemed scholar and distinguished alumnus, formerly an M.Phil. scholar.
Their legacy of wisdom, mentorship, and dedication continues to inspire generations of students and educators.

🎉 Proud Moment for the English Department – UAJK! 🎉

We are thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of our brilliant graduates, Muhammed Aslam and Andleeb (Batch 2019–2023), who represented Pakistan at the first-ever Young South Asian Leaders Initiative (YSALI) held in Colombo, Sri Lanka! 🇵🇰🌏

Out of thousands of applicants, only 19 participants were selected from Pakistan — and two of them are from our very own department! Their selection and participation in this prestigious, fully funded program organized by the U.S. Department of State, in collaboration with the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the East-West Center, is a testament to their leadership, vision, and the academic excellence nurtured at UAJK.

Their journey inspires us all and reflects the global potential of our students. 🌟
