It is located at 31°59'8N 72°18'30E[2] and lies on the river belt of the Jhelum River. It is known for its greenery and palm trees, which is very common in this area. Its population amounts to about 3500 people (1998). Sajada Nasheen Darbar Lakhiwal Sharif Syed Muhammad Siraj-ul-haq Hamadani is the staunch follower of Quran and Sunnah.He is also the patron of the great seminary situated in lakhiwal namely Jamia Faizan E Shah E Hamdan.He has visited many islamic states for the propagation of ITTEHAD BAIN UL MUSLIMEEN. Saadat Hamdania's(Lakhiwal Sharif) history can be traced back to 14th century when Syeds migrated from Hamdan in Iran and settled down here. They are descendants of Shah-e-Hamdan Syed Ali Hamdani, an Islamic scholar and sufi saint and Syed Shah Sultan Bilawal Hamdani of Danda Shah Bilawal(CHAKWAL), also a Sufi.
