HOW PM2.5 IS FORMED AND WHY WE NEED TO ACT...
PM2.5 is not caused by a single source. It can result from a combination of dust, crop-residue burning, and industrial boiler emissions, with pollutants interacting in the atmosphere.
Crop-Residue Burning
Burning crop residues releases smoke, fine particles, and gaseous pollutants directly into the air.
Boiler Emissions
Industrial boilers can emit SO₂, NOₓ, and particulate matter. In the atmosphere, gases such as SO₂ and NOₓ can undergo chemical reactions and contribute to the formation of secondary PM2.5.
Dust & Fine Particles
Dust and other fine particles remain suspended in the atmosphere and can add to the overall concentration of particulate matter.
