From the Tentative List to a New Horizon.

For more than three decades, Hiran Minar has waited quietly on Pakistan’s UNESCO Tentative List, carrying within its brickwork the memory of the Mughal landscape.
Since 1993, the world has known its name.

Now, we are giving its story a new momentum.
Punjab Archaeology has taken forward Hiran Minar into the next stage of the World Heritage journey, with its Preliminary Assessment now under consideration by the World Heritage Centre.

And as we look towards tomorrow, we are not only preserving the past, we are finding new ways to make it speak.

Through projection mapping, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, the monument will become a canvas where history, imagination and technology meet, allowing visitors to experience the landscape, stories and spirit of the Mughal age in entirely new ways.

A monument rooted in history while its story reimagined for the future.

This World Tourism Day, Hiran Minar does not merely stand as a relic of the past it rather now stands at the threshold of a new journey.

Hiran Minar: where history meets the future.

Bhera Railway Station
Giving new life to a historic railway station, and turning it into a public space.

The Bhera Railway Station project was initiated by Punjab Archaeology in October 2025. The project focuses on the conservation and adaptive reuse of the existing railway station structures, which include the mall godown, waiting area and ticket area.

Conservation work is being carried out using traditional techniques and materials, respecting the character and authenticity of the historic buildings. Underpinning, flooring, roofing, lime plasterwork and woodwork on the existing structure are now 70 percent complete.

Once conserved, adaptive reuse of these spaces will be a museum, café and sitting lounges. The rest of the site will have a children's play area, an open-air amphitheatre, a craft bazaar and a jogging track.

A new chapter for Bhera is on its way.

A dream brought back to life.
From its historic fabric and verandas to the curated lawns, the completion of this project in less than a year, a remarkable record time for a conservation project of this nature, reflects the commitment and technical direction.

We are grateful to DG Archaeology Zaheer Abbas Malik, whose personal persistence and close engagement at all levels helped turn this long-held dream into reality.
For the Directorate General of Archaeology, Kamran’s Pavilion represents what can be achieved when conservation is guided by vision and discipline.

Some projects are assigned. Some become a dream.
Conserved with reverence. Reimagined with grace.
