*Azadi Tehreek and PMKP Express Severe Outrage Over Horrific Murder of Brick Kiln Worker Mukhtar - Announce Nationwide Protests to Bring Perpetrators to Justice*
FAISALABAD — Azadi Tehreek and the Pakistan Mazdoor Kisan Party (PMKP) have vehemently condemned the horrific abduction and brutal torture-murder of their impoverished and defenseless comrade, Mukhtar, a brick kiln worker, within the jurisdiction of the Roshanwala Police Station (Chak No. 252 R.B.), Faisalabad. This vicious incident, which occurred on May 10, 2026, has once again exposed the tyranny of brick kiln owners and the oppressive system fueled by the nexus of feudalism, capitalism, and the local state machinery.
On May 10, the deceased, Mukhtar, had just finished a grueling day of hard labor when the influential brick-kiln owner Amjad, along with his Munshi Aurangzeb and Chowkidar Abid, forcefully abducted him with the help of their henchmen. The victim was locked inside an office within the kiln premises, where he was subjected to a cowardly and vicious assault. Upon learning of the situation, Mukhtar’s family rushed to the scene to save him, but the oppressors barred them from meeting him and continued the torture. By the time Mukhtar was finally rushed to the hospital following the assault, he had already succumbed to his injuries, and doctors confirmed his death.
The brick kiln owner, accountant, and watchman are equally complicit in this heinous murder. While the police have apprehended one suspect, Abid, the principal perpetrators and masterminds, brick kiln owner Amjad and Accountant Aurangzeb, have gone into hiding. In a deeply disappointing turn of events that makes a mockery of the law, these absconding suspects have managed to secure pre-arrest (interim) bail. PMKP, Azadi Tehreek, and the Bhatta Mazdoor Union have jointly announced that they will fiercely challenge this interim bail in court and will tolerate no compromise on the matter.
Comrade Asghar Shaheen, PMKP leader, President, Azadi Tehreek Faisalabad, and General Secretary, Brick Kiln Workers Union, is on the ground from to ensure justice for the aggrieved family. He has assisted the victim’s family in registering the First Information Report (FIR) and is currently organizing brick kiln workers on the ground to demand accountability.
Azadi Tehreek clarifies that the root cause of this tyranny is "bonded labor" and the exploitative system of Peshgi, which is used to enslave workers. This incident is a direct consequence of the impunity of brick kiln owners, their utter disregard for the law, and the criminal complicity and negligence of the local administration and the Labour Department.
Currently, Mukhtar’s family is living in a state of severe fear and panic due to continuous threats from the kiln owners. Azadi Tehreek and PMKP have issued a stern warning:
"If even a single scratch comes to any member of the deceased Mukhtar's family or any member of Azadi Tehreek, or if any attempt is made to harm them, the entire responsibility will lie squarely on the local administration and the brick kiln owners. The party will take the strictest public and legal action against this and will go to any length to ensure the family's safety."
Azadi Tehreek and the Pakistan Mazdoor Kisan Party appeal to all labor organizations, concerned organizations and people to raise their voices alongside us to seek accountability for Mukhtar’s blood and to end this thuggery. Our struggle will continue until the victim's murderers are brought to justice and brick kiln workers achieve complete liberation.
