History of Kot Addu Municipal Committee.
Kot Addu was declared a small town commitee of Tehsil Sanawan in 1897-98 in time of the British.
In 1920-21 tehsil Sanawan was demolished ( the reasons of which we will discuss in our next post ) and Kot Addu was declared as tehsil as a result of which small town committee was upgraded to town committee.
Before patition 1947 the last chairman of Kot Addu town committee was Mr Atma Ram ( who belonged to Hindu community of Kot Addu before partition ).
After partion first chairman was Mr Malik Muhammad Buksh Hanjra ( who belonged to Hanjra family of Daira Deen Panah )
Kot Addu town committee was upgraded to municipal committee in 1979.
Later on some Mouzas of Kot Addu were attached to committee and came under the jurisdiction of Municipal committee.
In 2001 the area under the municipal committee was divided into 3 urban union counsils.
According to 1998 census Kot Addu municipal committee had population of 80720 ( which is more than 1 lac in 2022 ).
In 2015-16 , 32 general counsillors were elected in Kot Addu municipal committee and Mr Malik Shahid Hussain Barar was elected as last chairman and Mr Shahid Iqbal Khan Gurmani was elected as the last vice chairman through local government elections.
Afterwards uptill now the Assistant commissioner Kot Addu looked after the charge of Administrator municipal committee Kot Addu .
Uptill 2017 the total number of heads of committee is 51 of which 32 were govt administrators ( Assistant Commissioners ) and 19 were public representatives ( elected through local body elections).
