A significant step towards the professionalization of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) teachers and the introduction of a Teaching License mechanism for the ECCE cadre has been taken in Sindh, advancing professional recognition, defined standards, and quality assurance for ECCE educators.

The ECCE Sub-Committee of the Academic Council/Teaching License Council (AC/TL), STEDA, convened on 22 September 2026 under the leadership of Dr. Fouzia Khan, Chief Curriculum Advisor, School Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, to deliberate on the proposed Teaching License mechanism for the ECCE cadre.

Through focused deliberations, the Sub-Committee developed key recommendations on academic pathways, minimum qualifications, professional competencies, and assessment requirements for ECCE teachers.

This initiative represents an important move towards recognizing ECCE teaching as a skilled and professional field—ensuring that Sindh’s youngest learners are guided by qualified, competent, and professionally recognized educators from the very beginning of their educational journey.

Because quality education begins with quality teachers—and strong futures begin in the early years.
