The Science & Information Technology Department, Government of Sindh, observed Kashmir Black Day to express solidarity with the people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir. The occasion was marked by one minute of silence and prayers for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives, reaffirming the importance of peace, justice, human rights, and the right to self-determination.

Mr. Ali Rashid, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Science and Information Technology, held an important meeting with Meta Directors visiting Karachi. The delegation included Ms. Yuen Ting Chay, Director of Public Policy for South and Central Asia, and Mr. Philip Chua, Director of Products.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Shehzad Roy of Zindagi Trust, Mr. Khalid Mahmood, Chairman of Getz Pharma, and the Secretary of School Education, Government of Sindh.

Detailed discussions were held on online safety, digital literacy, and ensuring a safe digital environment for citizens, particularly young people. The meeting also explored opportunities for collaboration between the Government of Sindh and Meta to promote digital awareness and encourage the safe use of the internet.

Mr. Muhammad Ali Rashid, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh for Science & Information Technology, chaired the formal handover ceremony of the Sindh E-Portal to the Sindh IT Company (SITC) for operational management, maintenance, and administrative oversight.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Agha Sohail Ahmed, Secretary, Department of Science & Information Technology; Dr. Shahzaib Ali Malik, Member IT; Mr. Zain-ul-Abideen Shah, Chief Executive Officer, SITC; and other relevant officials.

The handover aims to ensure effective portal management, regular updates, reliable technical support, and uninterrupted service delivery, further strengthening digital governance and public access to government information and services across Sindh.

Karachi, 21st October 2026: The official handing over/taking over ceremony of the Sindh E-Portal was held at the Committee Room of the Science and Information Technology Department, Government of Sindh, under the chairmanship of the Honourable Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh for Science and Information Technology, Mr. Muhammad Ali Rashid. The ceremony marked the formal transfer of the Sindh E-Portal from the Science and Information Technology Department (S&ITD) to the Sindh IT Company (SITC) for its continued operation, maintenance, and management.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Agha Suhail Ahmed, Secretary, Science and Information Technology Department; Mr. Zain ul Abideen Shah, Chief Executive Officer, Sindh IT Company, along with his team; Dr. Shahzeb Ali Malik, Member (IT) along with Operations Team; and Senior Officials from the Science and Information Technology Department. The participants reviewed the handover arrangements and relevant project documentation to facilitate a smooth transition of the portal into the operation and maintenance phase.

The transfer of operational responsibility to SITC is aimed at ensuring the sustainability, effective management, regular updating, and uninterrupted functioning of the Sindh E-Portal, which serves as a unified digital platform for the Government of Sindh and its various departments. Under this arrangement, SITC will undertake the operation and maintenance of the portal, including its ongoing management and technical support, to ensure its continued availability and effectiveness. This initiative reflects the Government of Sindh’s commitment to strengthening digital governance, improving public access to government information and services, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of its digital infrastructure.
