The academic session of the schools would commence from April 1 while academic session of the Cambridge-O and A level as well as the academic session of the colleges would commence from August 1.

The academic session of the schools would commence from April 1 while academic session of the Cambridge-O and A level as well as the academic session of the colleges would commence from August 1.

It was decided in a meeting of the Steering Committee on Education held with Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar in chair, here at Sindh Assembly building's Committee room on Monday, according to a press release.

The meeting decided that the students from class I to III would be promoted to next class on the basis of the performance and assessment. Examinations up to class VIII will be completed by March 10 and result will be announced by March 31.

Theory examinations of class IX and X shall commence from March 29 and their results will be announced by July 15 by all Boards of Sindh and the Board of Secondary Education Karachi will announce the result by July 31.

Examinations of XI and XII will commence from April 24 and the result of XII will be announced by all Boards except Karachi by August 31 while Karachi Board would announce by September 15.

Non -teaching staff will not be assigned invigilation duties in schools and colleges.

It was decided that summer vacations would be observed from June 1 to July 31 while winter vacation will be observed from December 22 to 31. It was decided that monitoring teams would be formed to stop use of unfair means in examinations while the teachers will be bound to perform examinations duties.

Violators will be dealt strictly and it was also considered that to encourage teachers for examinations duties their packages will be enhanced. All educational institutions will celebrate a week for sports.

Secretary Colleges Pervaiz Ahmed Seehar briefed the participants regarding objectives of the meeting. Pervaiz Seehar while briefing the meeting emphasized upon them to take all possible steps to curb use of unfair means in the examinations and create awareness among all stakeholder including parents, teachers, and students regarding drastic effects of cheating in examinations.

Addressing the meeting, Jam Mehtab said that all stakeholder have to work jointly to eradicate use of unfair means in the examinations. He said that concerted efforts is the only way that we can save our future generation and to improve education in Sindh.

He asked them to play their positive role to stop use of unfair means in the examinations and improve education in Sindh while Secretary colleges assured them his full cooperation in implementing the policies.

Secretary Colleges Pervaiz Ahmed Seehar, Special Secretary Education Schools Nasir Abbas, chairmen of all educational boards, Director General Private Institutions, representatives of private institutions, officers and educationists also attended the meeting.
