National Peace Council For Interfaith Harmony Govt of Pakistan To carry out projects for instilling values of human dignity, religious tolerance and respect for other religions in Pakistan.

National Peace Council For Interfaith Harmony is a semi-govt organisation which is truly working to bring peace and interfaith harmony among people all over the world. Some of the Objectives of National Peace Council are:
1) To create and foster spirit of generous consideration amongst the people, professing and practicing different faiths.

2) Engaging religious heads, spiritual masters and inte

llectual leadership in multidimensional exchanges and dialogue.

3) To unite the people in the bonds of eternal human relations, friendship, good fellowship, co-operation, harmony and mutual understanding.
4) Facilitating relevant actions at the end of people, communities, societies and comity of nations to discourage violence in all its forms and manifestations.

5) Engaging government and non governmental organizations in propagating the theory of peaceful co- existence in every nook and corner of the world.

6) To assist and help in building a strong base for a just moral and social world order.

7) To work for providing sufficient space in each society for mutual respect of all faiths, ideologies and shades of opinion.

8) To closely co-ordinate the working of the foundation with organizations active in building the bridges of understanding in between different religious faiths.

9) To institute state, regional, national and international peace, tolerance and harmony awards .To work for preserving human dignity of individual and also its human rights.

National Peace Council for Inter faith Harmony Peace Award Ceremony 2016 held on 28 Dec at Islamabad. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar yousaf graced the occasion as chief Guest. No of Ambassadors/HEs and dignitaries from all religions attended the event . It was nice to see that patriotic citizens and leaders belonging to various sects / religions joined hands to defeat anti state elements.
Peace can not be ensured without justice .Nor it can be achieved through violence, it can be attained through understanding. Youth has to play important role and Madrasas have to be revamped. The roles of religious preachers, youth, govt, military, and development Sector are of paramount importance. This is our short message.

Sectarian Rifts: Pakistan is home to multifaceted and heterogeneous faiths, and largely constituted of a Muslim majority. 96.28% are Muslims, 0.22% are Ahmedis, 1.60% are Hindus, 1.59% are Christian, 0.25% are Schedule castes, 0.07% are people of other minorities including the Parsi, Buddhist and Sikh communities. Within the Muslim majority, a large proportion of the population is of the Sunni faith, while the rest are Shia. While it would be simple to classify the Muslim population as Shia or Sunni, it is not a simple and straight forward matter. Both faiths house a number of different sectarian ideologies due to which there are intrinsic rifts in theological perspective and practice. How do we then maintain peace in such a diverse society and how do we inculcate tolerance in the masses towards each other’s faiths? What is your take on this and suggestions

The focus of the World Interfaith Harmony Week comes at a critical time in our world’s history, a time when we witness many societies struggling to embrace religious diversity as a vital component of peaceful communities. The need to deepen connections between people of all faiths is greater than ever, and just as tantamount is the need to do so on a global scale. We appreciate this and as a reminder to reject sectarian divisions around the world, and especially in the Pakistan.
Interfaith harmony is an essential part of the work of the Orthodox Initiative. Working in Pakistan today – a country which is hosting people of many nationalities and heritages – helps us practice our belief of assisting and interacting with all people of the world, regardless of faith.
As Pakistanis, we are proud that the was the initiator of such an important work.. We hope to cherish and respect the intention of World Interfaith Harmony Initiatives through our daily work of encouraging the vitality of faith diversity in all communities.
