💙 On 30 July, we mark World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
More than 200,000 trafficking victims were detected worldwide between 2020 and 2023, and nearly 40% were children.. ⚠️ Every number represents a life, a family, and a future at risk.
As part of the UN's , Belgium reaffirms its commitment to preventing trafficking, protecting victims, prosecuting perpetrators and strengthening international cooperation.
Human trafficking takes many forms: sexual exploitation, forced labour, forced marriage, and other forms of coercion. Criminal networks exploit vulnerable people through migration routes, online platforms, and legal loopholes, generating profits at the expense of human dignity.
This year's theme, "Trapped Behind the Scam", highlights how traffickers increasingly use fraudulent schemes to lure victims into exploitation.
Together, we can help bring human trafficking out of the shadows and stand with survivors.
