Industry accounts for one of the largest shares of Pakistan’s energy consumption. It is also where the greatest untapped efficiency potential sits.

National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority in collaboration with Danish energy experts under the Strategic Sector Cooperation (hashtag ) Programme, recently conducted energy audits and technical assessments at Group’s Kasur Cluster.

The assessments looked at operational systems across selected facilities to find specific opportunities to cut energy use, lower costs, and reduce carbon emissions without slowing production. The engagement also focused on knowledge exchange and capacity building, drawing on Denmark's decades of experience in industrial energy transition.

This is a government-to-government initiative. Denmark brings technical expertise built over decades of industrial energy reform. Pakistan brings the industrial scale and the urgency of a country working to reduce its energy import bill and meet its climate commitments.

The energy efficiency conversations Pakistan's textile sector has been waiting for finally happened.

Yesterday, ambassadors, policy experts, and technical leaders didn't just share a room, they shared a mission. National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority, Danish Energy Agency, GIZ Pakistan, and Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) came together for a workshop on Energy Audits, Energy Management & Life Cycle Analysis ( ) that Pakistan's textile sector truly needed.

Because real change happens when the people who write the policies sit next to the people running the factories. That's exactly what yesterday was.

The conversations touched on:

✅ What energy audits in Pakistan's textile industry are actually revealing
✅ How Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) is reshaping how we measure environmental impact
✅ What our national policies and action plans look like, and where the gaps are
✅ A concrete roadmap for decarbonizing one of Pakistan's most vital industries

From NEECA, our own Mr. Muneeb Ahmad, Sr. Assistant Director Industries, took the floor to walk the room through Pakistan's energy efficiency policies, strategies, and action plans for the industrial sector.

Some buildings consume energy. Others quietly conserve it.

At the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA), we believe that promoting energy efficiency across Pakistan must begin with our own institutions.

That is why has undertaken a comprehensive Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC 2023) Compliance Assessment of its building in Islamabad.

The initiative includes a detailed energy audit and technical assessment of the building’s HVAC systems, lighting, building envelope, appliances, and overall energy consumption patterns against the requirements of Pakistan’s ECBC 2023.

The objective is clear: to identify practical, cost-effective opportunities for improving energy performance, strengthen compliance with national standards, and demonstrate how buildings can operate more efficiently without compromising comfort or functionality.

in energy efficiency is not only about developing policies and regulations — it is also about setting an example through action.

As moves toward more sustainable and climate-responsive buildings, initiatives like these reinforce the importance of accountability, innovation, and institutional commitment in advancing the country’s energy transition.

In Pakistan, National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority's Energy Conservation Building Code ( ) provides guidelines for designing buildings that use energy more efficiently while improving indoor comfort and reducing operational costs.

We waste energy without even realising it.

A room sits empty with the fan still running. A fridge is pushed against the wall with no breathing space. An AC is set just a little too cold. These aren't big mistakes but together they add up to massive national energy waste.

Conservation is not a plan in progress. It is already in practice. Across public offices, energy discipline is now routine.

Unoccupied rooms are powered down. Corridor lighting is reduced. Cooling is limited to necessity, not excess.

Operationally, the system has adapted:
🔹 A 50% rotational work-from-home model is in effect.
🔹 Fridays are observed as off to reduce load on infrastructure.
🔹 Fewer active workspaces.
🔹 Reduced commuting.
🔹 Lower cumulative energy demand.

This standard is already guiding our workplaces.
Let’s bring the same mindful energy use into our homes.
