PRCS Chairperson Mrs. Farzhana Naek Meets EU Humanitarian Aid Head of Office to Strengthen Humanitarian Cooperation

A high-level strategic meeting between the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) Pakistan was held to reinforce coordination, deepen humanitarian partnerships, and align priorities in support of the vulnerable communities across Pakistan. The meeting was chaired by Honorable PRCS Chairperson Mrs. Farzhana Naek and attended by Mr. Georgios Frantzis, EU Humanitarian Aid Head of Office for Pakistan and Iran, along with his team.

Chairperson Mrs. Farzhana Naek acknowledged the EU’s valuable partnership with PRCS and appreciated the joint collaboration in the past, particularly in supporting vulnerable communities in the Merged Areas. She emphasized the importance of continued strategic engagement to strengthen timely, effective and accountable humanitarian response to communities facing crises.

The meeting was also attended by senior representatives and Heads of Delegations from IFRC, ICRC, Norwegian Red Cross, German Red Cross and Turkish Red Crescent, alongside PRCS senior leadership. Discussions focused on prevailing humanitarian challenges and ground-level needs, particularly in the Merged Areas, while exploring opportunities to further strengthen humanitarian cooperation and collective impact.

Ms. Beyza Taner’s Mission Concludes in Pakistan, Strengthening PRCS–TRC Partnership

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) hosted a farewell and appreciation ceremony to mark the completion of Ms. Beyza Taner’s mission in Pakistan, celebrating her dedicated service and meaningful collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent Society (Türk Kızılay).

The ceremony was graced by Honorable Chairperson PRCS Mrs. Farzhana Naek, Secretary General Mr. Muhammad Abaidullah Khan, IFRC Head of Delegation in Pakistan, Mr. Andreas von Weissenberg, Dr. Ulugbek Khusenovich Aminov, Head of Delegation for the Norwegian Red Cross in Pakistan, Mr. Asif Aman Khan from German Red Cross, Mr. Wasif Jan from ICRC, and PRCS and TRCS staff.

Reflections from the Secretary General, partner National Societies, and Ms. Beyza Taner highlighted the value of humanitarian collaboration and the bonds of friendship built through shared service.

Chairperson Mrs. Farzhana Naek expressed her appreciation for Ms. Taner’s contribution and extended her best wishes for the future, while Ms. Beyza Taner shared her reflections and gratitude for the support and collaboration throughout her mission.

The ceremony concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and warm wishes. As Ms. Beyza's mission comes to an end, the long-standing PRCS–TRCS partnership continues, and the friendship between two National Societies remains.

PRCS, ICRC & IFRC Sign Agreement to Strengthen Humanitarian Response in Pakistan

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) signed the Movement Coordination Agreement (MCA) today at PRCS National Headquarters, strengthening their shared commitment to more coordinated, timely and effective humanitarian action in Pakistan.

The agreement was signed by Secretary General PRCS Mr. Muhammad Abaidullah Khan, ICRC Head of Delegation in Pakistan Mr. Christoph Sutter, and IFRC Head of Delegation in Pakistan Mr. Andreas von Weissenberg, in the presence of Honourable Chairperson PRCS Mrs. Farzhana Naek. Dr. Ulugbek Khusenovich Aminov, Head of Delegation for the Norwegian Red Cross in Pakistan, was also present, along with Program Heads from PRCS, ICRC and IFRC.

At its heart, the MCA puts people in need first. It provides a framework for partners to work with greater complementarity, share information, strengthen preparedness and support more effective responses to emergencies, while reinforcing PRCS’s central role as the Host National Society.

A shared commitment to stronger coordination, greater impact and better support for communities across Pakistan.

Strengthening Community Surveillance for Better Health

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), in collaboration with IFRC, successfully concluded a three-day training on Community-Based Surveillance (CBS) in Islamabad, strengthening the skills of Routine Immunization field staff from KP, Merged Areas and Balochistan.

The training equipped participants with practical skills in identifying and reporting health alerts, applying CBS protocols, disease coding, assessment and surveillance mechanisms, enabling faster detection and response to public health events at the community level.

The closing ceremony was graced by Honorable Chairperson PRCS Mrs. Farzhana Naek and IFRC Head of Delegation in Pakistan Mr. Andreas von Weissenberg. PRCS appreciates IFRC, CDC and Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) for their continued support in strengthening Routine Immunization and community-level public health preparedness.

PRCS & Canadian Red Cross Strengthen Emergency Preparedness

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), with technical support from the Canadian Red Cross (CRC), is strengthening its emergency preparedness and response capacity. Building on the 2025 Preparedness for Effective Response (PER) assessment, the collaboration focuses on enhancing the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), information management, response teams and volunteer management.

The mission brought together PRCS technical teams, provincial teams from KP and Sindh, IFRC and Partner National Societies to review existing systems and develop an initial PRCS EOC Operational Framework, priority actions and a phased roadmap for stronger emergency coordination.

PRCS Chairperson Mrs. Farzhana Naek expressed her appreciation for CRC’s continued support, stating: We are sincerely grateful to the Canadian Red Cross for their gracious and continuous support to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society. This partnership strengthens our institutional capacity to deliver timely, coordinated, and effective humanitarian response. We look forward to translating these joint efforts into stronger preparedness and resilience for the communities we serve.
