🇳🇱 Today is Prinsjesdag (Budget Day) in the Netherlands!

The third Tuesday in September marks the state opening of parliament and Budget Day is considered a celebration of Dutch democracy.

On this day, King Willem-Alexander opens the parliamentary year with a speech from the Throne and the government unveils its budget and plans for the year ahead.

This day also coincides with the International Day of Democracy, which is a moment to celebrate Dutch democracy and its most important principles.

In Lahore, cultural connections are a must!

Exciting meeting with نادِ علی who was selected for this year’s Foam Talent 🇳🇱 chosen as one of just 15 artists from nearly 3,000 submissions from 107 countries.

His work is deeply connected to Lahore, exploring its rituals, communities, and layers of memory. It was a great opportunity to hear more about his practice and the stories he is bringing from Lahore to an international audience.

Prince Claus Fund Alumni Lunch

We hosted a small lunch with Prince Claus Fund alumni Hira Nabi Faisal and Waqas Manzoor to celebrate the Fund’s 30th anniversary, reconnect with an incredible creative community, and hear about the inspiring work alumni are doing today.

Great to visit the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) office and meet Razi Ahmed, Founder & CEO of LLF.

The Prince Claus Fund turns 30! 🎉

🇳🇱 Ambassador Robert-Jan Siegert hosted the Dutch Business Round Table & Networking Reception, bringing together Dutch and Pakistani business leaders, senior government representatives, media and the diplomatic community.

Honorued to have Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, Minister for Water Resources Mian Muhammad Mueen Wattoo, and Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, alongside leading voices from the business community.

Dutch business is already part of everyday life in Pakistan, from Lipton tea and Olpers milk at the breakfast table bought at a SPAR supermarket, to successful joint ventures combining Dutch expertise with Pakistani entrepreneurship such as EngroVopak and Barkat Frisian Agro. From macroeconomics to your morning chai, Dutch-Pakistani economic ties are closer than you might think. 🇳🇱🤝🇵🇰

On his final visit to Karachi, departing Deputy Head of Mission Hajo Provó Kluit met with the State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Business Council and OICCI to discuss Pakistan’s economic outlook and ongoing stabilisation efforts.

He also visited Dutch businesses contributing to Pakistan’s economy including Lipton, SPAR and Dutch-Pakistani joint venture Barkat Frisian Agro, supporting food security and employment. ☕️🍳

A meaningful exchange with Grand Imam Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad of the Badshahi Mosque, Lahore, at the residence of Ambassador Robert-Jan Siegert.

The conversation focused on interfaith and intrafaith dialogue, mutual respect, tolerance and human dignity, as well as the importance of promoting Freedom of Religion and Belief (FoRB).
