A referral mechanism only matters if it works when someone needs it.

Yesterday, IOM Pakistan brought together government institutions, ILO and civil society partners to identify practical ways to strengthen the ICT National Referral Mechanism, from clearer coordination and referral pathways to stronger follow-up and victim safeguards.

The goal: a system that works in practice, not just on paper.

IOM Pakistan and Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan are strengthening humanitarian preparedness through Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) training for frontline staff and volunteers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and Islamabad.

By building local capacity in coordination, accountability, community engagement and safe, dignified support, this collaboration is helping equip those closest to communities with the skills needed to respond more effectively when emergencies strike.

Together, we are investing in stronger local responders, better preparedness and a more resilient Pakistan.

Building a resilient health system requires strong partnerships and collective action.

IOM joined hands with the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination Islamabad, World Health Organization- Pakistan, UNICEF Pakistan, UNFPA Pakistan, International Rescue Committee and Save the Children Pakistan Program to advance dialogue on strengthening health emergency preparedness for humanitarian emergencies in Pakistan. The conference brought together government institutions, UN agencies, humanitarian partners, academia, and development organizations to review preparedness capacities, identify critical gaps, strengthen coordination, and promote an all-hazards approach to emergency preparedness and response.

Through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and joint planning, partners reaffirmed their commitment to building stronger systems that can better anticipate, prepare for, and respond to future humanitarian and public health emergencies across Pakistan.

The 2nd Project Steering Committee Meeting of the Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MMPTF) Joint Programme in Pakistan was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Athar Waheed, Director, Counter Terrorism Wing, Federal Investigation Agency - FIA.

As the lead implementing agency, IOM, together with UNODC, shared updates on progress across key programme activities.

The Chair and committee members expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved and emphasized the need for continued efforts to address trafficking in persons, smuggling of migrants, and related financial crimes, reaffirming the importance of strong coordination among the Government, UN agencies, and partners.

Bringing policy, expertise, and action together. 🇵🇰

IOM Pakistan is proud to support the Gap Analysis of Mental Health Legislations across Pakistan, led by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives (Mental Health & Psychosocial Support, Pakistan), the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination Islamabad, and the Ministry of Human Rights.

Reviewed by the national experts at a consultative workshop in Islamabad, the analysis supports efforts to align Pakistan’s mental health legislation with the WHO–OHCHR Guidance on Mental Health, Human Rights and Legislation (2023).

The workshop marks an important milestone in Pakistan’s legislative review process. By promoting rights-based mental health legislation, IOM continues to strengthen health systems and enhance protection for vulnerable populations, including migrants and displaced communities.
