Successful One-Day Seminar on Agri-Tourism: Empowering Sustainable Growth through Agriculture and Tourism
The Department of Agronomy, under the leadership of Dean Prof. Abid Farid, and with Dr. Khalid Naveed serving as the Chief Organizer, conducted an insightful one-day seminar on Agri-Tourism. This collaborative event was organized by the Department of Agriculture, University of Haripur, and the District Government through the Agriculture Extension Department.
The seminar highlighted the immense potential of Agri-tourism as a key driver for sustainable growth and the integration of agriculture with tourism in Pakistan.
We were honored to have Mr. Tariq Tanveer, CEO of the Agri-Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan, as the keynote speaker. Mr. Tanveer shared his expertise on how Agri-tourism can enhance the agricultural sector while providing unique experiences for tourists and supporting local economies.
During the seminar, Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman, Vice Chancellor of the University of Haripur, highlighted the importance of blending agriculture with tourism to unlock new opportunities for growth and development.
Dr. Anam Lateef, Additional Deputy Commissioner, graced the event as the Guest of Honour, adding significance to this landmark initiative. A large number of farmers and growers from different areas of the District Haripur actively participated in the seminar, gaining valuable insights into the potential of Agri-tourism as a new avenue for income generation and business growth. The event also witnessed active participation from deans, directors, and faculty members, making it a resounding success in promoting collaboration among agriculture professionals, academics, and industry stakeholders.
This seminar marks an important step in advancing Agri-tourism as a growing sector, contributing to economic growth, sustainability, and cultural preservation.
