Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department – Sost Check Post

On special Directives of Director Narcotics control GB , Divisional Director Gilgit, and ETO Hunza Mr. Sufyan Dukhi, successful narcotics enforcement operation was conducted by the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department at the Sost Check Post.

During the operation, a Chinese national driving a cargo truck was arrested after nine bottles of alcohol, totaling 3.9 litres, were recovered from his possession.

The accused was shifted to the Customs Office, Sost, for further investigation and legal proceedings. The recovered liquor was formally handed over to the Superintendent Anti-Smuggling, Customs House Sost, after completing the required handing and taking-over formalities.

The operation was carried out professionally by the Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control field staff as part of the department's ongoing efforts to prevent the illegal transportation and possession of prohibited substances and to ensure effective enforcement of the law.

Field Report – Excise and Taxation Department Hunza.
A road checking operation was conducted at Aliabad under the supervision of the Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO), Hunza.
During the operation, public and private transport vehicles were inspected to verify registration documents and assess the physical fitness of vehicles.
removed illegal number plates, tinted windows, and unauthorized fancy LED lights from vehicles found in violation of the law.
A total of six motorcycles were impounded for verification of registration documents and chassis numbers. After thorough inspection, all motorcycles were cleared and released.
Additionally, three carry vans and one car were impounded under the Seizure and Disposal Rules, 2017. Verification of their documents is currently underway, and the vehicles remain in the custody of the Excise Police, Hunza.
The team also conducted searches of various vehicles to prevent drug trafficking. No narcotics or other illegal substances were recovered during the operation.

Field Report – Sost Check Post, Gojal, District Hunza

A joint field checking operation was conducted by the Excise & Taxation and Counter Narcotics staff at Sost Check Post, Gojal, District Hunza. During the operation, vehicles were inspected to verify Gilgit-Baltistan token tax, route permits, tinted glasses, fancy number plates, and compliance with relevant motor vehicle laws. In addition, thorough checking was carried out to detect and prevent the transportation of narcotics and other prohibited substances.

Narcotics Control Meeting Held at DC Office Hunza

A Narcotics Control Meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner Office, Hunza, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Hunza.

The agenda of the meeting was to expedite narcotics control activities across the district and to organize seminars, awareness campaigns, and conferences to educate the public about drug abuse and its harmful effects on individuals and society.

The Deputy Commissioner Hunza directed all concerned departments to intensify intelligence-based raids and operations to curb the use, trafficking, and supply of narcotics. Participants also emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure effective enforcement and public awareness.

Excise Police District Hunza – Field Update

The field staff of this office conducted a road beat operation at Ganish Bridge on the stated date. During the operation, action was taken against:

* Unindexed vehicles
* Token tax defaulters
* Vehicles with tinted glasses
* Illegal and fancy number plates

In addition, the team inspected local transport vehicles for fitness certification and valid route permits.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts to ensure road safety, legal compliance, and smooth traffic management across the district.

EXCISE & TAXATION FIELD REPORT

District: Hunza

Field Inspection Report

A routine field inspection was conducted in Aliabad, District Hunza. During the inspection, the following violations and enforcement points were observed:

1. Vehicles displaying fancy/non-standard number plates were identified.
2. An unregistered/induction vehicle was found and checked for legal documentation and tax compliance.
3. Free and fair rate was monitored to ensure compliance with the notified government fare structure.
4. Vehicles with tinted (black) glasses were identified and appropriate legal action was initiated in accordance with applicable laws.
5. Action against overloading of public vehicles was taken. Overloaded vehicles were checked, passengers were advised accordingly, and necessary legal proceedings/challans were initiated against violators.

Action Taken

* Vehicle documents were verified during the inspection.
* Owners and drivers were instructed to comply with Excise and Taxation and Motor Vehicle laws.

* The inspection was completed successfully, and compliance with traffic and taxation regulations was emphasized.
