Children Home Male and Children Home Female, Dera Ghazi Khan, organized a prestigious ceremony to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan, commemorate the 150th birth anniversary year of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and mark the successful conclusion of the Summer Sports Camp 2026.
Mr. Mehmood Qadir Khan Leghari, Member National Assembly, graced the ceremony as Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Mr. Azhar Yousuf, Divisional Director, SW & BM, DGK. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH). Children from both institutions presented a series of impressive activities, including patriotic songs, speeches, tableaux and other performances reflecting the sacrifices of the heroes of the Pakistan Movement, the vision and leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, national unity and love for the country.
A special feature of the event was the Taekwondo demonstration presented by the children trained during the Summer Sports Camp. They displayed discipline, confidence, physical fitness and various martial-arts skills before the distinguished guests. Their outstanding performance was highly appreciated by the Chief Guest and all other participants.
The ceremony also marked the formal conclusion of the Summer Sports Camp 2026, organized to provide children with healthy recreational opportunities and promote physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, leadership and confidence. During the camp, children actively participated in various sports, martial arts and recreational activities.
In recognition of their outstanding performance, discipline and active participation, trophies were awarded to the ten best-performing children of Children Home Male and the ten best-performing children of Children Home Female. The awards brought immense joy to the children and encouraged them to continue developing their abilities with dedication and confidence.
The Chief Guest, departmental officers and children jointly cut the Independence Day cake as well as a special cake commemorating the 150th birth anniversary year of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The honourable guests appreciated the remarkable performances of the children and acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Department and institutional administration in providing a safe, caring and development-oriented environment to the children. They emphasized the importance of education, discipline, physical development and character-building in enabling children to become responsible and productive citizens of Pakistan.
The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the peace, unity, stability and prosperity of Pakistan. A special dinner was served to the honourable guests, officers, officials, staff members and children at the conclusion of the event. The celebration proved to be a joyful and memorable occasion, strengthening the spirit of patriotism, national responsibility, teamwork, discipline and self-confidence among the children of both institutions.
