Talisayan Fire Sub-Station personnel headed by SFO1 Jose Levi S Endino, Acting Fire Sub-Station Commander, actively participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) as part of the continuing effort to strengthen earthquake preparedness, emergency response, and disaster readiness.
The activity reinforces the importance of proper coordination, discipline, and preparedness among personnel during earthquake emergencies. Regular drills help ensure that responders are equipped and ready to act quickly and effectively when an actual disaster occurs.

|| Inventory of Personnel, Property, and Equipment CY 2026 ||

The BFP Regional Office IX Inventory Team, together with representatives from the Commission on Audit (COA), conducted an inventory of personnel, property, and equipment at the Talisayan Fire Sub-Station as part of the CY 2026 Inventory.
Present during the activity were members of the Regional Command Group, including:
• FSSUPT JACQUELINE S ORTEGA, DSC, Assistant Regional Director for Operations
• FSUPT WILFREDO A DAVID, Caretaker, Office of the Regional Chief of Staff
FSUPT LEO S PIOQUINTO, District Fire Marshal, together with the commissioned officers of the Zamboanga City Fire District, warmly welcomed the Inventory Team and COA representatives upon their arrival.
The inventory activity aims to ensure the proper accounting, verification, documentation, and accountability of personnel, properties, and equipment of the Talisayan Fire Sub-Station.

FLASHOVER VS. BACKDRAFT — CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE?

Both can create extremely dangerous conditions for firefighters, but they are not the same phenomenon.

🔥 Flashover is primarily heat-driven. As temperatures rapidly increase, most exposed combustible surfaces in a compartment can ignite within a very short period, transitioning the fire toward full development.

💨 Backdraft involves an under-ventilated, fuel-rich fire environment. When fresh air is introduced and mixes with hot combustible gases, rapid—and potentially explosive—combustion can occur if ignition conditions are present.

Recognizing changing conditions matters. Read the smoke, watch the heat, understand ventilation, and maintain situational awareness.
