Last July 23-24, the Integrated Management Information System Section (IMISS) successfully held the DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT Program: Digital Innovation, Technology and Accuracy in Leadership thanks to PETRO.

We brought together dedicated representatives from various ZCMC departments for collaborative training and learning. Whether they were tech beginners or intermediate users, our goal was simple: to bridge the digital divide and equip our hospitalโ€™s workforce with the tech fluency needed to drive innovation and accuracy in their daily operations.

The Zamboanga City Medical Centerโ€™s Integrated Management Information System Section (ZCMC IMISS) actively participated in the recently concluded FHIR Connectathon on Local Health Information Exchange (LHIE) and eReferral. Held from June 23โ€“25, 2026, at the Savoy Hotel in Boracay, the three-day collaborative event brought together healthcare officials, digital health innovators, developers, and key stakeholders.

The workshop focused on strengthening health information interoperability in Aklan, the first pilot province in the country working toward full Electronic Medical Record (EMR) integration.

ZCMC was proudly represented by Dr. Jaime Kristoffer Punzalan, Medical Officer IV and Mr. Tristan Jay Amit, Computer Programmer II. Demonstrating technical excellence and dedication, the ZCMC IMISS delegates successfully developed a working interoperable referral system during the hands-on sessions. This milestone represents a significant advancement toward seamless data exchange, which is critical to ensuring continuity of care and improving patient outcomes nationwide.

This event marks a crucial step in establishing a sustainable LHIE and standardized eReferral framework. We express our sincere gratitude to the UP Manila National Telehealth Center (NTHC), the Department of Health - Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service (DOH-KMITS), the Provincial Government of Aklan, and CSIRO for pioneering this vital initiative.

Last April 21 to 22, the Zamboanga City Medical Center - Integrated Management Information System Section (IMISS) hosted delegates from Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) for a two-day IT benchmarking activity.

The visit was organized to share practical insights and best practices regarding IT governance, information system management, and digital infrastructure operations. These discussions and system walk-throughs were designed to provide valuable input as APMC works to strengthen their own hospital information systems and ensure they align with national standards.
