The Zamboanga City Medical Centerโs Integrated Management Information System Section (ZCMC IMISS) actively participated in the recently concluded FHIR Connectathon on Local Health Information Exchange (LHIE) and eReferral. Held from June 23โ25, 2026, at the Savoy Hotel in Boracay, the three-day collaborative event brought together healthcare officials, digital health innovators, developers, and key stakeholders.
The workshop focused on strengthening health information interoperability in Aklan, the first pilot province in the country working toward full Electronic Medical Record (EMR) integration.
ZCMC was proudly represented by Dr. Jaime Kristoffer Punzalan, Medical Officer IV and Mr. Tristan Jay Amit, Computer Programmer II. Demonstrating technical excellence and dedication, the ZCMC IMISS delegates successfully developed a working interoperable referral system during the hands-on sessions. This milestone represents a significant advancement toward seamless data exchange, which is critical to ensuring continuity of care and improving patient outcomes nationwide.
This event marks a crucial step in establishing a sustainable LHIE and standardized eReferral framework. We express our sincere gratitude to the UP Manila National Telehealth Center (NTHC), the Department of Health - Knowledge Management and Information Technology Service (DOH-KMITS), the Provincial Government of Aklan, and CSIRO for pioneering this vital initiative.
