Dengue Advocacy & Community Clean-Up Drive

The Barangay Sta. Barbara community came together for a Dengue Advocacy and Community Mobilization Clean-Up Drive, spearheaded by Punong Barangay Hon. Junaid M. Musa, together with the Barangay Officials and dedicated Barangay Staff.
The activity focused on maintaining cleanliness and eliminating possible mosquito breeding sites, particularly stagnant water found in canals, containers, drainage areas, and other places where mosquitoes may lay their eggs.
As part of the clean-up effort, the team also placed salt in selected canals and stagnant-water areas. Salt can make water less suitable for mosquito larvae to survive, but this should only be used where appropriate and should not replace proper drainage, removal of stagnant water, and regular cleaning.
Kap. Junaid M. Musa encouraged all residents to take an active role in keeping their surroundings clean—not only during clean-up drives, but every day. He emphasized that dengue prevention starts at home and becomes stronger when the entire community works together.

The Barangay Council of Sta. Barbara, Zamboanga City, under the dynamic leadership of Punong Barangay Hon. Sheikh Junaid M. Musa, proudly received 3 tents and 100 plastic chairs funded through the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF) under the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program, a national subsidy initiative of the Office of the President.

The Barangay Government of Sta. Barbara extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Office of the President and to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for this valuable assistance to our community.

These newly received tents and chairs will greatly support various barangay activities, including community assemblies, emergency response operations, medical missions, educational programs, social gatherings, and other public service initiatives.

These resources will help improve the delivery of services and provide greater convenience and comfort to our residents during barangay events.

This assistance reflects the government's continued commitment to empowering local communities and ensuring that every barangay receives meaningful support for the benefit of its constituents.

BARANGAY UPDATE | Power Restored Through Immediate Action

Upon receiving reports last night regarding a power outage caused by an exploded transformer, Punong Barangay Kap. Sheikh Junaid M. Musa immediately directed Barangay Staff Mahadhel Halil to assess the situation on the ground. Kagawad Rene Irin also responded promptly to help verify the incident.

After confirming the problem, Kap. Junaid immediately contacted New ZAMCELCO and requested urgent action to restore electricity in the affected area.

We are pleased to share that New ZAMCELCO responded without delay by replacing the damaged transformer. In addition, the transformers along Orchids Drive and Malunggay Drive were upgraded to higher-capacity transformers to provide a more reliable and stable power supply for the community.

During the installation of the new transformers, Cesar Muji was also present to witness and support the activity.

Kap. Sheikh Junaid M. Musa extends his sincere gratitude to the management and personnel of New ZAMCELCO for their prompt response and commitment to serving the residents of Barangay Sta. Barbara.

Thank you to everyone who cooperated and remained patient throughout the restoration process. Together, we continue to build a safer and stronger community.

This is a priority program of Assistant Majority Leader Congresswoman Kat Chua, in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), offering FREE TESDA NC II training for qualified residents of the First District of Zamboanga City.
