Designed by National Artist for Architecture Francisco โBobbyโ Maรฑosa, the landmark is renowned for its distinctive interpretation of traditional Filipino architecture and its extensive use of indigenous and locally sourced materials, particularly coconut-based elements that showcase the country's rich natural resources.

The Coconut Palace, formally known as Tahanang Pilipino, is a nationally recognized landmark celebrated for its distinctive Filipino architectural design and extensive use of coconut-based and other indigenous materials.
The project was commissioned in 1978 by then First Lady Imelda R. Marcos as a government guest house intended to showcase Filipino culture, craftsmanship, and the versatility of the coconut as a sustainable construction material. Designed by National Artist for Architecture Francisco โBobbyโ Maรฑosa, the Palace was conceived as a symbol of Filipino ingenuity and hospitality, highlighting the country's rich architectural traditions and local resources.
