The Zamboanga Peninsula Food Innovation Center (ZPFIC) of Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) proudly participated in the 𝙕𝙖𝙢𝙋𝙚𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠 (𝙍𝙎𝙏𝙒) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 that was held on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟮–𝟭𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at the 𝙕𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙙𝙚𝙡 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧, 𝘿𝙞𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙕𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙙𝙚𝙡 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙚.

The event brings together innovators, researchers, scientists, technology developers, academe, government agencies, industry partners, and communities to celebrate the transformative role of science, technology, and innovation (STI) in regional development.

As one of the exhibitors in the said event, the ZPFIC showcased its commitment to advancing value addition and product development, and promote food innovation and technology-based solutions through various innovative food products and processes, and technical services that support the local food processing industry and empower food processors and communities across the region.

Through active participation in ZamPen RSTW 2026, the ZSCMST (through its ZPFIC) continues to strengthen partnerships and promote the adoption of innovative technologies toward a more competitive, sustainable, and resilient regional food sector.

The Zamboanga State College of Marine Science and Technology (ZSCMST) through its Zamboanga Peninsula Food Innovation Center (ZPFIC) personnel conducted onsite visit to Siay Dried Fish Fisherfolk Marketing Cooperative (SDFFMC) in Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay on April 10, 2026.

The visit provided an opportunity for the ZPFIC team to assess the current operations and actual needs of the SDFFMC in terms of product development, quality improvement, and food safety, among others. This activity is in line with the expressed intent of SDFFMC to partner with the ZSCMST thru its ZPFIC on various aspects of fish processing, product innovation and food safety.

Through continuous collaboration, ZPFIC remains committed to empowering local food processors and fisherfolk organizations toward improved productivity, enhanced product quality, and food safety for more competitive and sustainable food enterprises in Zamboanga Peninsula.

The Zamboanga Peninsula Food Innovation Center (ZPFIC) of Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) has conducted the “𝙎𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙧 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙊𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙤𝙛 𝙁𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮, 𝙋𝙧𝙚-𝙍𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙨 (𝙋𝙍𝙋𝙨), 𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 (𝙘𝙂𝙈𝙋), 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 (𝙎𝙎𝙊𝙋), 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙃𝙖𝙯𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝘼𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡 𝙋𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 (𝙃𝘼𝘾𝘾𝙋)” on hybrid modality on 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟏𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, at the 𝙕𝙎𝘾𝙈𝙎𝙏 𝙎𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘽𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘽𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙕𝙎𝘾𝙈𝙎𝙏, 𝙕𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮. The seminar is intended as a refresher course on food safety and cGMP, and introduction to PRPs, SSOP, and HACCP as requested by Kape Zambo personnel who are assigned in its chain of coffee shops and restaurants in Zamboanga City and operates dedicated kitchen commissaries as a supplier of meals and snacks to the crew of Cebu Pacific Airlines. Also participating in the same event were other food-based micro, small and medium enterprises under the OTOP NEXTGen Program of the Department of Trade and Industry-Zamboanga City Office (DTI-ZCO) involved in the processing of calamansi concentrate and juice, veggie snack chips, tablea and chocolates, low carb ice cream, peanut butter, etc. based in Isabela City and Zamboanga City. The ZPFIC team that conducted the seminar was lead by Associate Professor Divinia Ramillano (ZPFIC Manager) and Ms. Mary Flordiluna Guisada (ZPFIC Assistant Manager). Sharing actual industry experience and exposures in relation to the principles and practices on cGMP and SSOPs were Ms. Sanita Rulida and Ms. Margarete Camins.
