The Purok Kalusugan Monitoring activities were conducted from August 17 to 20, 2026 in selected barangays of Zamboanga City, in collaboration with personnel from the Department of Health – Center for Health Development Region IX (DOH-CHD RO IX).

The monitoring schedule covered the following areas:
August 17: Barangay Arena Blanco
August 18: Barangays Cabatangan, San Jose Gusu, and Campo Islam
August 19: Barangays Patalon and Sinubong
August 20: Barangays Tagasilay, Sangali, and Talabaan

The activity aimed to monitor the implementation and progress of the Purok Kalusugan program at the barangay level, assess the delivery of health services, and identify areas that may need further support and strengthening.

The joint monitoring also provided an opportunity for the local health team and DOH-CHD RO IX personnel to engage with barangay health workers and community partners, ensuring that health programs and services continue to reach communities effectively.

Member-agencies of the City Implementation Team (CIT) of Zamboanga City convened today, August 17, 2026 to discuss preparations for the upcoming CIT Conference which will be held on August 27, 2026.

Participants actively engaged in reviewing policies, the team’s progress, and Key Result Area (KRA) indicators, among others, which will be presented to the CIT for consideration and approval.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the City Health Office, CSWDO-Population Division, DOH-CHD RO IX, and facilitated by the LGU’s partner, The Challenge Initiative Philippines.

The collaborative efforts highlight the team’s continued commitment to strengthening coordination and advancing initiatives for responsible parenthood and reproductive health and development outcomes in Zamboanga City.

The turnover ceremony took place during the city’s flag-raising ceremony, where the donated equipment and supplies were formally handed over to city officials.

The assistance is expected to strengthen the city’s response to the rising dengue cases and provide additional resources for dengue prevention, control, and treatment.

Zamboanga City is facing a dengue outbreak, prompting city officials to declare a “War on Dengue” as cases continue to increase in different barangays.

City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite presented the current dengue situation this morning’s Flag-Raising Ceremony held at the City Hall grounds on August 17, 2026.

As part of the intensified response against dengue, the city government distributed sacks of salt to different barangays. The initiative forms part of the city’s continuing efforts to strengthen community participation and combat the spread of dengue.

OIC City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco also delivered her inspirational message, emphasizing the importance of collective action and cooperation among barangays, city government offices, and residents in addressing the dengue outbreak.

The declaration of the “War on Dengue” underscores the city government’s commitment to taking stronger and more coordinated measures to protect communities and prevent further increases in dengue cases.
