ATTN | ADZU COMMUNITY MASS

In times when our community needs strength and solidarity, may we find comfort in coming together through prayer and reflection.

The Higher Education Unit invites the Ateneo community to join the Community Mass on September 1, 2026 (Tuesday), at 9:00 a.m. at the University Church, presided over by University President Fr. Ernald M. Andal, S.J.

In view of the Mass, classes will be suspended from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Let us come together in prayer, stand in solidarity, and hold one another in hope.

HONOR. REMEMBER. INSPIRE. | National Heroes Day🇵🇭

Today, we remember the Filipinos whose courage, sacrifice, and dedication helped shape the nation we know today. Their stories reflect the value of freedom, service, and standing for what is right.

Their example shows us that heroism is not only found in extraordinary acts. It can also be seen in the integrity we uphold, the compassion we extend, and the responsibility we take for our communities.

As we look back on those who came before us, may we also look forward—to the Philippines we can help build through our own choices and actions.

May their courage inspire us to serve, their values guide us, and their legacy live on through us.

IN PHOTOS | CANDLE LIGHTING CEREMONY

Today, August 27, the AdZU community gathered once again for a solemn candle lighting ceremony, coming together in remembrance, solidarity, and support for those affected by the recent incident within our university community.

In solidarity, EDJOP cast members Elijah Canlas and Kakie Pangilinan, Director Katski Flores, and Edgar Jopson’s daughter Joyette Jopson also lit candles in a shared moment of remembrance and solidarity.

Each candle served as a symbol of compassion, hope, and our collective commitment to standing with one another during difficult times. May this gathering remind us of the importance of listening, caring, and extending support to those who need it.

The candle lighting ceremony will continue tomorrow, August 28, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We invite students, faculty, and staff to join us once again in remembrance and solidarity.

Together, we remember. Together, we stand.

AUGUST 24 — In light of the recent tragedy in our AdZU community, we came together to light candles in remembrance, solidarity, and prayer. May every light offered honor those affected, bring comfort to those who are grieving and hurting, and remind us that even in the midst of darkness, we can continue to choose compassion, hope, and peace.

May this light remind us that we can continue to be a light for one another. ©

GENERAL WELLNESS CHECK-IN | WE WILL LISTEN TO YOU, ATENISTA

In light of the recent incident within our university community, El Consejo Atenista is opening a General Wellness Check-In to provide the ADZU community with an avenue to share their experiences, concerns, and support needs.

We seek to understand: How are you doing? Do you feel safe? What support do you need?

Your responses will help us better understand the concerns, experiences, and well-being of our students and community members, and facilitate the proper endorsement of these concerns to the appropriate university offices.
