A NATIONWIDE MARITIME MOMENT FOR “MaNa Mo 2026”

On 01 September 2026 at 10:00 AM, participating Philippine-flagged vessels across the country will sound their ships' horns simultaneously as part of the observance of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MaNa Mo). The ceremonial signal will consist of: “Nine (9) Short Blasts, Followed by One (1) Long Blast”.

From our ports and harbors to vessels at sea, the sounding will mark a shared moment for the Philippine maritime community and the Filipino people. The activity is a simple reminder of something fundamental about our country: “The Philippines is a maritime and an archipelagic nation.”

Our seas connect our islands and communities. They carry our trade and people, provide food and livelihoods, support our economy, and are an essential part of our national life and identity. More importantly, our maritime domain is a shared responsibility.
Government agencies, seafarers, fisherfolk, maritime workers, businesses, coastal communities, the academe, and every Filipino have a part in understanding, caring for, protecting, and responsibly using our seas.

The National Maritime Council (NMC) encourages concerned government agencies, port authorities, maritime organizations, vessel operators, local governments, maritime schools, and coastal communities to support and share in this nationwide maritime moment through their respective platforms and activities.
